Today we’d like to introduce you to Tannaz Santos.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I went to school for graphic design but I always had a passion for photography. I started to take pictures when I was really young, I used to ask all the families and friends to model for me, I loved developing their pictures and see their faces. When I moved from Iran to US, I went to Pasadena collage and studied Photography and decided to do photography as a side job. I was doing all kinds of photography like Products, Head shots, kids and babies. After awhile I decided to specialize in newborn photography and I started my new business as Photos By Tannaz.
I love newborns and I enjoy every moment that I spend with them to perfect all the little details.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It was never a smooth road since everybody thinks they can take pictures if they have a good camera. Not everybody appreciates prints and good quality, it’s hard to compete with other people that they will take low quality pictures and give the digitals for a really low price. These days most people take pictures with their phone and just want to upload to social media and don’t care about high quality.
Photos by Tannaz – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I specialize in newborn photography. I have a small studio in my house in Santa Clarita. I always update my knowledge, I take newborn safety classes to make sure I’m posing them safe. I’m proud that my clients always walking out of my house happy and excited about their images.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success for me is a happy client. I never advertised my business it’s always word of mouth and I think that makes it a success for me. I want my clients leave their session and talk to their friends and tell them they had an awesome session and show everyone their images.
