Meet Tania Rios of Unfold Glam in Redondo Beach California

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tania Rios.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Tania. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Mother of two girls now 20 and 16 years old. I was born in Nayarit, Mexico and moved to United States in 1995. I lived in Wyoming for eight years and move to Los Angeles in 2003, and immediately began to Pursue a career in Cosmetology. And obtained my license in 2004. I started working as an assistant at Louis Licari Salon (specialize in Color) in Beverly Hills, where I received a solid foundation in color.

I moved to El Segundo shortly after and Joined Fantastic Sams Franchise 2006. I started as a stylist and continued to become a Regional Manager for three Franchise Salon in the South Bay where I received tremendous experience of Management and operation in the salon industry, ten years after a got an opportunity to become part of the ownership which has help me learn the business aspect of this industry. I have loved for cosmetology but my true love is Haircolor I’m proudly to say that I’m one of the few Hispanic cosmetologists to be an American Board Certified HairColorist ABCH. The secret to my success is my commitment and dedication to further education, I absolutely love learning and keeping up with trends in a fast-changing world. I am fascinated by Hair Panting Balayage and specialize in gray coverage and many of the new methods that are used today and I try hard to keep up with it through social media, peer groups, and educators.

Five years ago, I was Introduced to SENEGENCE – an amazing line of skin care of makeup that does not kiss off smudge off is waterproof, vegan, no wax,  no led no gmo’s etc… I was so impressed by this line that I venture out to add makeup artist to my portfolio with SeneGence, currently I am international trainer for them in Mexico and USA. In January of 2019, a ventured out in my own and I am currently at Phenix Salons Suite in Redondo Beach at suite 116 UNFOLD STUDIO continuing my passion and my dreams to UNFOLD your Beauty through hair skin and makeup.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I can’t believe it could be smooth for anybody pursuing a career in cosmetology. It needs tremendous amount of patience, perseverance dedication and commitment to excellence in order to succeed. For me with two girls and full-time Job was a challenge, I had to take the bus to go school everyday. Having to prove to my family who are all professionals that going to Hair school is also a career was also quite a battle so for that I have to make it happen no matter what.. I also had to overcome a lot of challenges with my own self-confidence since is English was not my first language and this profesión demands clear comunicación. Attempting to offer complete satisfaction to our guest who is looking for the latest trends, change their look through color or style can be very demanding and challenging as well. It takes many years of experience and education through bad and Good experiences to become confident as a Hairstylist however it is extremely gratifying to do a great Job and received the compliments and appreciation for the work you did. I take a lot of pride in what I do and I absolutely enjoy and love seeing the transformations of my work.
