Hi Tammy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My Journey of Adaptation and Growth as a small business owner began from a water store owned by my mom & I.
Five years ago, I started out as a hobbyist collecting plants, including some rare species. Simply to enjoy nurturing the love for nature and the joy of growing beautiful greenery indoors. Little did I know that this hobby would eventually bloom into a thriving business.
During the challenging times of the pandemic, I made a brave decision. With limited to no funds, I opened a small plant shop close to home in Huntington Beach, determined to share my passion with others.
Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, the business took off, bringing joy and beauty to our community. Consumer demand and support poured in, providing a glimmer of success during uncertain times.
But then came another hurdle—rising inflation. Undeterred, I decided to pivot and expand my shop. I incorporated coffee, seamlessly blending two loves into one space. The past year has been a whirlwind of renovations and hard work.
Through it all, I remained committed to my dream. With each passing day, my new plant and coffee shop is taking shape. It’s been a journey of resilience and adaptation, but I can see the finish line in sight.
As I look at the shop now, I feel a sense of satisfaction and gratitude. This humble yet vibrant space is a testament to my determination. It’s a place where plant enthusiasts can find unique species and indulge in their love for coffee.
The path hasn’t been easy, but I’ve proven that dreams can come true with passion, creativity, and a willingness to adapt. I’m excited for the future of my business, as each day brings new growth and opportunities.

I always consider myself lucky to be able to do what I truly love and passionate about. Now I soon get to do it in double times: Plants & Coffee 😊 I’m also lucky to have a very supportive family (my husband, mom, and sister) who always have my back from the beginning.
I look at bad luck (if there’s any) as a new door to a new beginning. Nothing can be really bad; it’s just how we look at it.
