Meet Tak Hau of Aria Brides in Downtown Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tak Hau.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am the designer/owner of Aria Brides. I and my business partner started Aria Brides in the Fall of 2014,

I have been designing dresses for almost 20 years, started out by designing a private label collection for Cache’, a famed chain dress retail shops who’s known for their formal dresses. Came to California from NYC to start a bridesmaid dresses manufacturing company with my business/life partner in 2006, seeing brides were having such trouble finding fresh, sophisticated wedding gowns that are semi-customizable at an affordable price, we had decided to transition from a being bridesmaid dress manufacturer into a strictly bridal gown design company.

Bride loves the casual, serene and approachable atmosphere that Aria is all about. No lab coats and clipboards here! LOL

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Producing hi-quality garments in the USA has been our biggest challenge while keeping cost low so that we may offer our gowns at a reasonable price range. But we are doing it!

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Aria Brides story. Tell us more about the business.
Aria gives brides the freedom to mix and match any of our necklines with all of our skirt silhouettes, this allows brides to create the exact wedding dress that they dream of, at an affordable price.

All Aria dresses are proudly made right here in Los Angeles, which is a rarity, considering 99% of wedding gowns are made in the far East and in South America.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
We got a call from Buzzfeed earlier this year, out of the blue! They wanted to feature our dresses on a skid, “The Try Guys”, Buzzfeed wanted me to film hosting a bridal fitting appointment where I have the 4 try-guys try on my designs. It was a hoot! I believe they got over 6mil views for this clip! And we received numerous calls and leads after the video clip was published.

One of my wedding gowns was featured on the TV show “Jane the Virgin”, again, we have no idea how they found us, being a small design company and all. But apparently, viewers loved seeing my “Jennifer” gown on the main star of the show, “Jane”, who is played by actress Gina Rodriguez, she was serenaded by famed music artist Bruno Mars while dancing with her TV husband.

Pure luck!

Pricing:

  • Our gowns start at $1,400 and end at $3,000
