Today we’d like to introduce you to Sydney Noble.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was born in Detroit, MI raised by a family of entrepreneurs and small business owners. From a young age, I was immersed in the arts and always encouraged to follow my passions. Starting at the age of five, I began dancing and fell in love with it. Training and pursuing a professional dance career brought me out to Los Angeles in 2012 at the age of 19.
Once I relocated I remained in school studying to get my degree in Digital Photography. A few years after graduating college in 2014 I realized that being a professional dancer wasn’t the route for me. Lost and unsure of what direction I wanted to take I began putting my photography degree to use and became a freelance photographer.
Although skilled at what I did, there was still a void that was not being fulfilled. I quickly realized that it was because I felt like I didn’t have control and ownership over my life. So I followed in my family’s footsteps and began my own small business, The Noble Brand. What once started off as a clothing line has morphed and transformed over the years as I grow and come into my true authentic self.
Has it been a smooth road?
The road has been the farthest thing from smooth. Being a young woman trying to build and name and brand for herself while also trying to learn who she is is not an easy feat. My journey was full of doubt, comparison, lack of clarity and so much more. Changing paths multiple times in the midst of figuring out “my lane” came with meeting and befriending a lot of people in the different career fields that I pursued. Seeing others thrive and be so sure and confident in their path as I was trying to find clarity in mind was my biggest struggle.
Knowing that in everything I pursued the talent, drive, and work ethic was there gave me comfort in knowing that if I continued on any of my paths I would have excelled. However, going to sleep at night knowing there was a piece of me that was unfulfilled would eat at me. I knew I wanted to build a legacy not only for myself but for future generations to come and the routes I was choosing to take weren’t going to get me there.
Choosing to take the path barely traveled was the biggest leap of faith yet the scariest/smartest choice I’ve made. It was the moment when I decided to get off the well-lit path that led to the unknown and journey through the dark scary forest of discovery and create my own lane that I knew had guaranteed results.
To this day I still don’t have all the answers and I’m still figuring it out but now I have a vision and a sense of direction that has given me the fulfillment I was missing for all those years.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into The Noble Brand story. Tell us more about the business.
The Noble Brand came about in 2016 during a time when I was learning what it meant to love and value self. I began tapping into the essence of who I was, what made me happy, what made me feel beautiful, etc. In doing that I truly began to understand the beauty and value of those around me. On a journey of self-discovery, not only did I understand that I am royal, but also that all of those around me are royal too! So I created this brand so all can flaunt their crown and own their truth shamelessly without feeling threatened by the next person doing the same.
What originally started out as a clothing line has developed itself into a hand-poured small batch candle company. I recognized that scientifically our sense of smell is closely linked to memory and emotion. So I carefully selected fragrances that will not only make our spaces smell better, but also make us feel better in the process.
All of our products are vegan & cruelty-free. Our fragrances are non-toxic & phthalate-free. The wax is made from soybeans grown in the Midwest region of the USA, non-toxic, biodegradable, and clean-burning. And our wicks are lead & zinc free, constructed from natural flat cotton threads interwoven with paper threads.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Within the next 5-10 years, our mission is just to continue to expand. We have begun to branch into wholesale orders and making our products available in various small retailers. As time goes on, we will continue to explore that avenue and build our company to the point of reaching major retailers ideally. Everyone loves candles and various home fragrances so we see longevity in this industry as long as our consistency and work ethic is ever-improving.
