Hi Sushanna, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started working at Jalan Jalan Imports and Topanga Rocks during the Covid pandemic in 2020.
A personal trainer and yoga teacher by trade, many of my gyms and yoga studios were closed during that time. Fortunately, Brian Gibson, Owner of Topanga Rocks, was renovating his crystal shop, giving me a project to do to pass the time.
When the pandemic was over, I continued to work at the shop as an integral part of operations, provided a yoga class by the natural waterfall on the property, offered astrology and card readings, and sell my Moon Ritual Kits.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I planned on going back to my normal routine after my gyms and studios opened back up but fell in love with the beautiful property of Jalan Jalan Imports and Topanga Rocks.
Although I still practice my yoga trade, it was a bit of an adjustment in direction. Ultimately, it was an expansion of opportunity, opening me up to elevate her spiritual teachings into the powerful healing of crystals, sacred symbolism, and the connection to Mother Nature and her elements.
As you know, we’re big fans of Jalan Jalan Imports and Topanga Rocks. For our readers who might not be as familiar with the brand, what can you tell them about it?
Jalan Jalan Imports and Topanga Rocks is more than a business; they are an experience. The property itself holds a sacred, spring-fed waterfall that runs year-round.
Walking the property, you see beautiful hand-carved statues imported from Indonesia as well as impressive one-of-a-kind teak root furniture, not to mention the breathtaking beauty of the surrounding mountains, nature, and fresh air from the ocean, which is just a short drive down Topanga Canyon Blvd.
As you approach the store, you see an array of giant crystals lining your path. Inside the store, you will find an extensive collection of hand-curated crystals from all over the world with detailed explanations of their healing properties, along with high-end jewelry made by Joyce Gutesha and beautifully blended oils by Misty Lawrence.
You will also find many other things, such as a variety of incense to choose from, unique gifts, and specialty items. It is a truly healing destination that is hard to describe in words and pictures alone.
What do you think about happiness?
Educating others on different healing methods and connections to nature is what makes me happy. As you heal others, you heal yourself, I believes. There is no separation between individuals and the environment.
I love learning from and reflecting with others on their healing path and believe that there are many modalities and paths to self-enlightenment, all leading to one truth: we are all connected and can heal and expand ourselves through self-awareness. I believe that happiness is state of mind that all can choose at any time. It comes from within.
