Today we’d like to introduce you to Susan Coniglio.
Susan, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was born in New Jersey and relocated to the West Coast at the age of three. Circumstances beyond my control, led me to run away from home at the age of 10 and be sent to Saudi Arabia to live with my biological father. After returning to the United States in my teens I needed to work and support myself. Well pursuing a law degree I hired on with the sheriffs department in order to pay for my schooling. I worked in law-enforcement for 16 years and became a major crimes detective. After being injured in line of duty and forced to retire , I again needed to reinvent myself and started two business’s Star Struck Events and Class A Interiors in order to support myself and my young daughter as a single mother .
In 2012, I found a venue I named it La Villa Bella . At this time, I was barely making ends meet, but what I locked in funds I made up for in vision and my faith in the Lord .
Through much hard work and twist and turns, the rest is history. I am currently a successful business owner of a gorgeous historic venue named La Villa Bella SanAntonio and also an event planning company called Star Struck Event and Party Planners .
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Obstacles related to business .
1. Lack of funds.
2. Disabilities from being injured in law-enforcement.
3. Lack of family support.
4. Being a single mother with no childcare.
5. Needing to fight the city to get my conditional use permit..
6. Starting a business in the early 2000s when the economy was in the toilet.
