Sunny and Silvia, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Like all good fairy tales, the story of The Only Roses begins in a place far, far away.
That place is Shandong, China, a coastal province in the northern part of the country. In Shandong, there lived a mother whose daughter moved thousands of miles across the world to settle in America. The daughter was me — Silvia Lee.
With my mother living so far away, I would often send her beautiful bouquets of roses to remind her of our love. But like all fresh flowers, these roses would soon start to fade after arriving at my mother’s house. Sometimes they wouldn’t even last for a whole week!
Those wilted flowers inspired me to find something better, something that would last much longer than a few days. My search eventually led me to the mountain-top farms of Ecuador, where the world’s best roses are grown. It’s also where I discovered the Everlasting Rose.

Entrepreneurship is never easy. It is very exciting and challenging. The most difficult part is balanced family life and the growing demand from our business. This is especially hard for Silvia because she started this business because of her mom. Now she is a mom too.
Please tell us about The Only Roses.
We are a luxury high-end florist that specializes in luxury preserved roses, flowers and plant arrangements. All our roses, flowers and plants are 100% real and they don’t wilt. We stand by our commitment and offer a one-year replacement guarantee if our roses, flowers, and plants wilt within one year. Beyond roses, we also expand our collections into other flowers and plants. We actually carry over 50 types of everlasting flowers and plants. Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Growing up in China, I had a lot of family relatives and friends live in the United States and most of them are in Los Angeles. Many of them don’t have a lot of money. Through their hard work, dedication and innovation, many of them became successful individuals in their respective spaces. Back then I don’t really have a word for it but now I call it the American Dream. Actually, we are living in an American Dream. This land especially Los Angeles gives us a tremendous amount of opportunities.
