Today we’d like to introduce you to Summer Hopper.
Summer, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My father gave me his 1972 35mm Milolta SRT 101 and from there I fell in love with photography. From high school, all the way through college I practiced the photographic arts. Then came the digital age. Uggghhh…. is what I said at first. However, my joy of photography continued with the growth of technology and I learned all that I could about my new digital camera back in 2009. My heart still beats for film and I hope to return to it someday but digital is the way of the world and my love for digital is now immense. It is beautiful, instant, and there is plenty of room to be creative.
When my family and I transplanted from San Diego and made a new home in Manhattan Beach, I decided that I needed a real creative outlet and thus, my new photography venture was set in motion.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Ultimately, my first job is being a mom. Which most know can be a struggle in itself. My husband travels often and running a business solo with two littles (and one on the way) can make for a challenge. But my love for the craft keeps me motivated and I always make it work.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Summer Hopper Photography – what should we know?
To generalize, I would say I am a Lifestyle Photographer. I service a wide range of clients from families to entrepreneurs. My specialty is natural light photography that gravitates to a more moody look.
However, I always strive to get the perfect shot and I take pride in the fact that I can transform into what a client needs to achieve their vision.

My husband. He has always been supportive of my ventures and I praise him for his patience and unrelenting belief in me.
