Meet Steve Reisman of Everguard Home Insulation in San Fernando Valley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Steve Reisman.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Steve. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
We’ve been in business since 1959 when my grandfather started the company. Back in those days, you’d have to prove to homeowners that insulation actually helped a home stay more comfortable, this was when insulation wasn’t even required when building homes. My father ran the company for some 42 years and today, a half century later, my children even have an interest in continuing it as well.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s been a relatively smooth road as the need and awareness of energy efficiency has grown.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
We specialize in retrofit insulation, we go to homes already built and add more insulation into the attic or drill and inject insulation into the walls. What we’re most proud of is our impact on both the environment and the economy, insulation not only saves money on bills but it also means less gas burned, less electricity used and an overall lower adverse impact on the environment…and that’s good whether you believe in global warming or not. We’re also very proud of our customer reviews, we’re the highest rated on major boards and what it reflects is that we don’t have high-pressure salesman and our crews really take the time to install each home like it’s their own home.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up I was hands-on with technical stuff. I like to design, build and create things. I was into electronics by way of designing my own circuits and even saw the launch of personal computers. What I enjoyed most was designing, building and flying R/C aircraft. I had a job at a hobby store and really enjoyed helping others.
