Today we’d like to introduce you to Steve Delgado.
Hi Steve, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
So I now started to be an Actor – Towards the end of my Senior Year in High School back in 2013, I was thinking about what should I do? Originally, the plan was to be a professional basketball player. I loved it so much, I played since I was five years old. During Senior year, a lot of things happened, and one of them was I fell out of love playing the game. It didn’t feel same anymore. Also going thru a breakup was a factor in that. So after I graduated, I went to look for stuff for acting, and I was living in Las Vegas at the time. The hardest part for me was the beginning because I didn’t know how to start. My brother saw something for acting classes and he passed along to me, and I figured that’s the route I should go on. Education and training is always important, I always value the craft. So I went to the school and learned the basics, I met my first Casting Director Jeffery Gafner, who was incredibly generous with his knowledge and extremely nice. I had saw him again last December for a workshop, and he remembered me. After school ended in December 2013, I wanted to find another class to keep on learning. I loved what I learned, and I wanted to keep continuing on learning. It took a while tho because I was working full time at a job so I couldn’t find the time to do anything, but the thought was still there. My first film was in 2014, I got my first agent in 2014 as well. Slowly but surely things were picking up. In 2018, I was cast in a pilot; from there things just went off. I went to New York for the first time in my life to film and it was an amazing experience. It felt like a dream to me. In 2021, I had billboards around the city and commercials out in TV. Right now, I have a movie called AMERICAN SICARIO in select theaters but now available on Amazon Prime, Vudu, Redbox just to name a few. I moved to LA back in April of 2021, and I love it!!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, not at all. I didn’t have a path to start. People wouldn’t help me, I felt like they knew I would be coming and going big. Time was another issue because I couldn’t find the time to develop my craft and look for opportunities.
Money was another issue because in this industry, things are pricey, and I wanted make myself be marketable.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m an actor and writer. I’m known for in TV/Film. If you seen AMERICAN SICARIO then you would know me. Plus, the billboards around the city definitely helped too.
I’m most proud of every accomplishment, every project I do because this stuff is hard, and I’m extremely fortunate to be in this position. My favorite project is the next one.
What sets me apart from others my self-confidence. I believe in myself so much that I know I’m going to make it. I know I’m supposed to be here for this. While everybody is shy and unsure. I’m on the other side just entertaining others and getting these opportunities.
How do you think about happiness?
Acting; Being in front on camera and just working with other talented people from cast and crew makes me ecstatic. I love the progress we do, and sure it can be difficult but that’s the beauty of filmmaking, when you got people in other departments working on different issues to move the project forward.
