Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Stewart.
Stephanie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley by a Single Mother and a Father who, while greatly present in my life, lived abroad in Thailand. Given the dynamic of these relationships, and the roles they played in my life, I was able to learn so much from both of them. While my father instilled in me life lessons about adventure and to enjoy life to the fullest, I also had the unconditional support of my mother who always pushed me to strive for success and to never stop learning or growing. They both instilled in me traits of resilience and tenacity to never give up on the goals and dreams I set for myself. As an only child, I learned to be independent and while I was never alone, to never rely solely on others.
Growing up, I found myself cultivating a passion for dress-up and fashion. I loved the freedom of expression and excitement it brought me. As soon as I turned 15 and a half, and was legally permitted to work, I applied to a clothing store. Thereafter, I attended the University of Phoenix, and graduated Class of 2017 with a degree in Business Management. After my studies I went off to pursue a career in the Sales/Marketing industry.
As my career in sales progressed, I found myself always returning to my biggest passion – fashion. My biggest problem, and still to this day remains true, is that I love to shop! I find myself constantly buying new outfits for every occasion. Life is much too short to wear the same outfit twice. Just kidding, but in all truthfulness, my dream has always been to own and run a boutique of my own.
However, this dream did not come easy. I’ve hit my fair share of failed endeavors. After High School, I started a sunglass line, but due to the high demand, I wasn’t able to push for it, so I made the tough decision to sell. When 2020 came around, I was a part of the initial cluster of employees who were laid off due to COVID-19. I became overtly frustrated, and began to go stir-crazy. In short, when I lost everything, nothing came more handy than my own traits and passions. During this time of hardship and adversity, I remembered all that my parents instilled in me; to be strong, robust and to learn from the lessons life was teaching me. Time is unforgiving, and has taught me to never miss a second. So I decided to apply for my seller’s permit and made my way to LA Fashion District to begin working on my dream; Timeless by SZS. My goal I to continue growing my clothing line and post COVID-pandemic to open a storefront. While I faced hard times, I continued to carry a smile on my face and work hard amidst the challenges. I stayed determined and learned from 2020 as best I could; and went from disappointments to finally focusing on myself and chasing my goals.
Please tell us about Timeless By:SZS.
Timeless By:SZS is a collection of timeless pieces that are selected by me and the help of my girlfriends. I have an amazing strong group of best friends who have set time for me to model, provide social media support and have helped Timeless by SZS to thrive through all of their diverse ideas and input. I do weekly photo shoots of my friends in outfits to give girls and idea of how these product would look on them or to provide Inspo on ideas on how to dress the clothing up or down. Currently, we are located in a warehouse in Northridge, CA. Our website supports online shopping and in-store pick-up. Currently, the warehouse is looking to pilot in-house try on’s and are looking to slowly bring customers in. Provided we accommodate mask regulations and social distancing. I am looking forward to see where this journey takes me and for the future of Timeless By: SZS.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up I was outgoing, energetic, and some would even say wild. I loved to sing and dance, and even participated in choir. I had a forceful imagination and loved to play house and create mock fashion shows in my bedroom. On the adventurous side, I also participated in sporting events and was a part of kids basketball team. While I didn’t stick to a career in sports, I always loved trying new things. As I grew older, I valued the time I spent with my friends and family. I would go to the mall every Friday with my girlfriends, as it was the place to be when we were younger. I’ve always been very social, and family oriented.
