Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Galvez.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My story unofficially begins in elementary school. I would fold construction and printer paper and staple the pages together to create my own book. I was the author and illustrator, and though my drawing skills could have been better, I found my passion. I always dreamed about becoming an author and traveling to remote locations to write. Sadly, I stopped writing as I got older. Fast forward to August 2012, I met my husband, Niko Galvez. We worked for the same company and met over a work trip. I don’t like feeling stagnant, so I applied for different positions every two years. I learned a lot working for a Fortune 500 company.
A few months before our wedding in 2016, I was diagnosed with Papillary Thyroid cancer. To hear you have cancer, your world turns around. The rug from under your feet is pulled so quickly. Niko was my rock! He said you have one day to cry, then we fight. That was the most impactful statement that I live by now. Since we’ve been married, I’ve had 12 surgeries in seven years, four of which were on my thyroid area.
Niko and I opened our business in June 2020 while I continued to work for the Fortune 500 company. We invested long overnight hours on production sets and traveled nationwide for projects. Our unique style is present, especially when it comes to creating content. I am always in awe of our finished projects.
In June 2023, I left the corporate world. I felt like I had given all I could and vice versa. I was ready to invest 100% in myself with NEG MEDIA PRO. Aside from what I was already doing (operations), Niko asked what else I wanted to do. It was then I remembered the little girl who put together her own books filled with imagination. It was then I decided I wanted to be an author. Let me rephrase that: I want to be a paid author, and I need to give kudos to younger me. So now I am writing three books. The first one is to look back at the pivotal moments in my life and give my younger self advice. Not to say I regret anything. It’s more like the advice I would give myself. So now Niko and I work on projects together, and I still get to write.
To have a spouse who supports your dreams has been the biggest help to get me writing again! You’ll have to stay tuned for #WhatsNext on the other two books…
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I wish I could say the road was smooth, but it wasn’t. One of the biggest struggles has been my medical journey. I have been battling cancer for seven years, and not to mention I’ve had 12 surgeries. But it’s like that quote, “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.” that is how I see this road. You will be tested, and it’s the actions you take that make you who you are.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
NEG MEDIA PRO is a husband and wife-owned media production and consulting. We partner with the best in their fields to create the vision. Our clients hire us to record music videos, feature films, plan events, or evolve their business to the next level. I can now take the knowledge and skills I developed to our clients, which makes us unique. We are the husband-and-wife power couple! Niko and I work amazingly together. Between both our backgrounds, our services can be used in all types of industries. We are known for turning ideas into reality, whatever that looks like for our clients.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
What makes me happy? Hmm, this is a tricky question. A lot of things make me happy. After being diagnosed with cancer, my outlook on life changed. It made me appreciate everything that I have. Aside from spending time with my husband, Niko, and our fur-child, Chewie, I would say writing makes me happy. I love getting lost in my thoughts and translating them into words.
