Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Anderson.
Stephanie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started in the industry as a professional bookkeeper and tax preparer in the early nineties. This progressed into earning a degree in Accounting and yearly continuing education required to maintain a tax license. I have been an Enrolled Agent since December 2015. This has allowed me to engage in Resolution work for individuals and businesses with tax debt. It has been very exciting to help people resolve their tax problems and move forward with a fresh start.
At first, I did not want to own my own business due to all the work involved to maintain a business. However, I always ended up taking the managerial role in any tax office I worked for. Developing and implementing a marketing plan, interviewing, training and hiring employees. etc. My paycheck was not satisfying. So I decided to cut out the middleman.
I have many years of experience managing the full financial cycle for small businesses. This includes payroll, financial statements to the tax return.
I enjoy working with Entrepreneurs. They are positive, passionate and hardworking.
I may be working with financial transactions, but really, I am in the business of helping others.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road. I started this business with no capital or loans. I am very resourceful and found a way to gather all tools and resources needed in order to service the clients. I had studied marketing enough to know all the free ways to market. It was enough to get my first pool of clients. The referrals from them grow the business event more. Today I do have a large marketing budget. This allows me to engage in more targeted marketing to people with tax debt.
Another struggle was putting in all the extra time and making sacrifices socially. I was used to spending a lot of time with friends. I had to cut that down a lot. It takes so much energy and consistent effort to start a business.
Last struggle is to stay optimistic. There are tough patches. One step forward, two steps back. I have sought out other people in my industry to talk it through with. Amazing to me how kind and helpful people can be. Not one person has been unwilling to talk. They have been generous with sharing their experience and offering advice.

We are most proud of the Tax Resolution work. Helping people through a very stressful time of facing their tax problems. Many do not have the money to pay it all. We get to help them with possible negotiations to resolve for less money. Developing relationships with these people over the course the case has been very rewarding. A case can last seven months to years. Then we continue to work going forward keeping them in compliance and preventing a repeat problem.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory from childhood was when my mother surprised us kids with a puppy. His name was Sky. He was the cutest Cocker Spaniel puppy in the world.
