Meet Stacy Lauren-Kon of Mend Family Acupuncture and Healthcare in Los Feliz Village

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stacy Lauren-Kon.

Stacy, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Originally from New Jersey, I grew up in New York City and graduated from Rutgers University with a dual B.A. in English and Journalism. Upon moving to Los Angeles I studied graphic design at UCLA and opened up an entertainment advertising agency. But something was missing and I felt a deeper calling.

I went on to graduate from the Oriental Medical School, Dongguk University – Los Angeles. While at Dongguk I had the pleasure of working in the Student Clinic for 2.5 years as well as doing a Residency at The USC Engemann Health Center. I have a Masters of Science and Oriental Medicine, am a Ph.D. Candidate in Oriental Medicine, am a Licensed Acupuncturist by the State of California, and sit on the Board of the California Acupuncturist Association.

I love California and currently reside and work in the beautiful neighborhood of Los Feliz with my husband of 19 years and our two children. Residing in California has opened my eyes to a healthier lifestyle and broader view of healthcare.

There is very little Traditional Chinese Medicine has not had success in treating. I have worked with adults, children and the elderly and am happy to answer any questions you may have regarding how Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine can benefit you and your family. Together, and with your Western M.D., we can work toward achieving more comprehensive health and wellness for you.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Is there ever a smooth road to success? Probably not. Going back to school at the age of 40 with 2 young kids and no science background was not an easy task. It took 6 years to get through a 4-year program and then a year to study and take my boards. Now I am embarking on writing my Ph.D. while raising 2 kids, running a medical practice and trying to stay sane. I love the bumpy road of life. Would not want it any other way!

Please tell us about Mend Family Acupuncture and Healthcare.
Mend Family Acupuncture and Healthcare offers Eastern Medical Care (Acupuncture, Ancient Herbal Patented Formulas, Tuina Bodywork, Moxa, Cupping, E-Stim, etc…..) as well as Functional Medicine and Primary Healthcare for the entire family.

I am very proud that we take most insurance plans and work with patients to make sure everyone has access to healthcare.

I think what sets Mend apart from other Acupuncture practices is that we meld Eastern and Western care and truly bridge communication between both worlds.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I do not know if I would have done anything differently. I like the path life has taken. The excruciatingly hard times gave me joy in the end. I really think I could do anything I set my mind to.

Pricing:

  • Mend takes most PPO insurance plans.
  • Mend take credit cards, cash, and checks.
