Meet Staci Stewart of The Print Lab

Today we’d like to introduce you to Staci Stewart.

Hi Staci, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Grew up in Arleta, I danced, ballet, tap, modern and jazz from the age of three, so I was always pretty disciplined. Independent and never fond of listening to anyone, My parents had no college fund or plan for me. I knew I needed to figure out my own way. Worked various jobs, as a bagger at Vons, at a flower shop, at a company helping the accountant, answered phones, ended up getting an agent and dancing professionally for a few years, but it really wasn’t my thing. During this time, my boyfriend was getting shirts screen printed out of a friend’s garage for his own clothing brand, he then started taking orders for other people’s clothing brands and businesses, got a small shop with a few pieces of equipment. I learned about buying shirts, how they were screen printed, the timing of how the process worked. I was about 18 and was working at a company as an administrative assistant when he asked for my help with invoicing for his t-shirt orders, so I’d type up invoices and created a billing system.

From there, I realized that I could really take this screen printing t-shirts thing to the next level by getting all the proper licenses, vendor accounts, creating pricing structures, coming up with production schedules, operating procedures. The Print Lab spawned from hard work, dedication and continually learning and adapting. My boyfriend, now husband, continued to be the sales rep, so to speak, and I worked on the business operations, creating procedures, contracts, and structure. We went from a 900 sq ft shop to 1500 sq ft, to 5,000 sq ft and are now in a 20,000 sq ft facility. We’ve worked with all types of clients, from bands, celebrities, fortune 500 companies, clothing brands, influencers. Supplying retailers all over the nation with high-quality screen-printed garments. We’ve been able to raise a family and make a healthy living and are thriving over 20 years later.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Definitely not smooth. My husband and I both come from humble beginnings. There was no prior experience or specific education that I was exposed to. No money and no family with money to help if it didn’t work out. It was do or die, lol. We had no investors, no business plan and truly started with nothing. I just figured it out as I went.

As you know, we’re big fans of The Print Lab, Inc. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
