Today we’d like to introduce you to Staci Cooper.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Staci. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
As a child, I always enjoyed helping people. I grew up in a poor family with a lot of siblings. Initially, I would do my sister’s hair as well as my own just to help out. It was and still is very costly to have three girls in the salon at the same time! At this time, I was just starting my craft and would not always achieve the look or style I was going for so I had to appreciate my sisters being eager to allow me to do their hair!
When it came to preparing for our futures it was hard to embrace the arts though it was a part of our culture because a lot of our elders wanted us to go for a promising career with a promising income. That said my dream was a far-fetched dream but I knew at the age of thirteen that I wanted to have my own hair business. After years of schooling and attempting to go for a career in healthcare, I recently decided to try to take my business to the next level and actually make it successful. I am currently transitioning in order to focus more on Styled By Staci and everything I have to offer.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Becoming an entrepreneur is by far one of the hardest roles I have taken on. It is easy persse to clock in/out and work for a corporation and have a guaranteed check coming in. To be the person who is producing the service, providing the means of servicing, and taking care of every expenditure thought of to run a small business is challenging to say the least. The liability and responsibility is soley on you to make your business thrive. The hardest struggle thus far has been maintaining consistency in all areas and keeping consistent revenue flow in order to keep things consistent. More significantly, having faith and being proud of what you are doing. Being young and wanting to have things figured out and have something to show for your work is always a factor, but being reminded of how far you have come and the infinite possibilities of how far you can go is motivation.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Styled By Staci story. Tell us more about the business.
Styled by Staci is a small business that specializes in all styles and hair art, promoting natural hair care and growth, also specializing in eyelash extensions and growth. Using only products and tools that are of high quality and promote health, Styled By Staci is known for being reasonably priced while providing high-quality services. I am most proud that I can stay true to my passion and who I am as a woman, and that speaks in all that I do. Some things can’t be taught like a genuine love and compassion for people and their concerns. Every patron I have serviced usually comes back again and again and for me that speaks volumes. From feedback and observation, I do believe that my personality, knowledge and services provided help to create a rapport that is built on trust and genuine team-based care between the client and stylist.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I do not believe in luck, I believe in walking in good faith and putting forth the work to follow. I am a God-fearing woman who was blessed with opportunity beyond measure. I am forever grateful for being put in different positions, timing is also everything. One characteristic I feel most important to my success is trustworthiness. When people know you have ethics and morals and know that you are consistent and that they can expect you to be diligent in delivering a product or service & that is what keeps them coming back. I think to build on a community or target market that can trust me and what services I provide is what will keep me thriving. It is not about how many people who will come and buy services it is more about what they are buying and how Styled By Staci can add to their needs even in the future. People want their money to stretch, so the knowledge, tools and resources to promote health they receive and carry with them is the real wealth.
