Meet Stacey Gamble of Smoke & Mirrors Fitness in Santa Ana

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stacey Gamble.

Stacey, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was introduced to pole fitness by a client. She insisted that I would love the workout as well as the freedom she experienced from dance and movement. After my first class, I was hooked and addicted to the strength I was building as well as the dancer I was becoming. In 2011 my partner Christina and I opened Smoke & Mirrors Fitness, so we could share our passion with others.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I believe anything worthwhile comes with a little struggle. Mostly, it has been a trial and error strategy. Pole fitness was new as a mainstream workout and new to us when we opened. We had to educate ourselves on how to become valuable instructors as well as business owners. How to give each student the best experience possible, as well as making sure they are safe and comfortable with something that may initially be intimidating.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Smoke & Mirror Fitness is a dance & aerial arts fitness studio. We offer Pole Fitness, Aerial Lyra & Silks, Stretch & Flexibility Classes, Barre, Yoga and a number of specialty classes. Some of our specialty classes include Sexy Stiletto Dance Classes, Sexy Chair, Twerksanity (which is basically a choreographed cardio class where you shake your booty for any hour) Contemporary Movement, Hip Hop and more.

We have an incredible group of instructors as part of our Smoke & Mirrors family. They all come from various backgrounds, from competitive ice skating, gymnastics, trapeze, yoga, ballet, to your everyday mom who only started this as a hobby.

I’m proud of the variety of classes we have to share as well as the diversity of students we have. Everyone is welcome to train and dance at Smoke & Mirrors Fitness. We have created a safe, welcoming environment for anyone who wants to let their hair down and get fit without judgement.

What were you like growing up?
I was brought up in a very conservative family with two brothers and a mom that stayed home, while my dad worked. I was curious about everything, with a competitive side. I loved sports and my mom put me in every lesson possible (likely to burn off my energy and not drive her crazy). I played tennis, swam, tap dancer, rode horses, and snowboarded just to name a few. I was genuinely happy and looked through my own “rainbow” lenses and believed all things were possible.
