Today we’d like to introduce you to Spencer Evans.
Spencer, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started out in front of the camera as an actor. With each production, whether film or stage, I found myself becoming more interested in what the director was doing. I was fascinated with how directors would use different elements of film making, on and off camera, to cultivate their vision. This fueled my passion for storytelling and led me into directing and producing. In these new roles, I really enjoy bringing together all the elements of storytelling along with the very talented team we’ve been able to assemble over the last 4 years.
With my background being in acting, one element that I really enjoy as a director, is helping actors discover the character they are stepping into. I personally believe that every actor has special idiosyncrasies that they can bring into a character, and its fun using a combination of techniques that I’ve learned from my own experiences, coaches and mentors to help reveal them.
I also love the collaborative effort between our clients and our company. Whether it’s a musical artist, commercial brand, or a film, we truly enjoy helping our clients find their own unique voice, their story and their message for each project. With endless ideas and directions, we work hard to make sure we stay true to their vision, while also finding ways to intertwine meaningful content. I believe that cinema can have a huge impact on its culture and in the shaping and prolonging of imaginations everywhere. Cinema, is a true time traveler.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Growing in this industry for many of us is not always a smooth road. In fact, many times it’s about pushing through obstacles and challenges that come your way, which can lead to very rewarding discoveries. A challenge that I’ve faced but also enjoy is team building. I’ve found it important to surround myself with people that see the direction Spirinity is headed and are willing to put in the passion and dedication needed to keep moving forward. It’s a never-ending process that requires so much time and consideration, but I’m really proud of our Spirinity team and the hard work everyone has put in to create a company with a reel that we feel very proud of. At the end of the day, our goals are to provide a positive working environment, produce meaningful content, and to make sure our clients are happy, while feeling good about the project that we’ve created.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Spirinity Productions – what should we know?
Spirinity Productions is a full-fledged production company based in Los Angeles, CA. We offer pre-production services such as story development, casting, crew building, scheduling, choreography and production planning. Regarding the project production itself, we have a large crew network, so we can provide and offer all kinds of production services whether it’s a small project that needs a smaller crew, or a big production requiring crew and equipment of all shapes, sizes and styles. Additionally, we offer in-house post-production services which includes editing, audio mixing, coloring and special effects. We often provide photography services as well as talent coaching, consulting and so much more. We really want to be a one stop shop for our clients and provide a smooth and enjoyable experience throughout the production process.
We’d like to be known as a company that tells compelling stories that propels viewers to reflect on the message being shared. For example, we really enjoy including pre-music scenes in music videos which we feel can add more layers to the overall story. Our proudest moments as a company have been when our clients bring us an idea in its beginning stages and throughout the process and with the final product they feel they are able to see their vision come alive in what we’ve created together.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
The quality I feel that is most important to our success is having strong character. I personally admire this in others, such as the ability to be honest, keeping your word and leading by example. I strive to continuously reflect on my own character to make sure I am following these standards that I expect from others. I feel that having these qualities creates a better work environment, and I know that it’s important to our crew and clients as well as they feel they can trust and believe in our team as well as our projects.
