Today we’d like to introduce you to Sparkly Wine Mermaid Tiffany Humfeld.
Tiffany, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I have worn many hats from puppet shop clerk to massage therapist to flight attendant. I guess I like to explore. In 2008, I read a book which changed my life and perspective on money, Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki. That led me to start investing in real estate and learning about entrepreneurship. Then, in 2017, itching for more artistic creativity and sparkle, I launched a passion project and side hustle called Peace Love & Wine. To celebrate the launch, I threw a fundraiser wine pairing dinner and silent auction to support The ALS Association and my launch of Peace Love & Wine. It was a delightful event and we are looking forward to more.
The idea started over a glass of wine in a Santa Ynez winery, inspired by friendship and the 1979 Green VW Bus named Phillis The Love Bus (who drove us to wine country on that trip). Phillis is owned by one of my wine sisters, Kristi.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s all been an experiment, filled with bumps and bruises and exploration. And when I’m not crying, I’m having a lot of fun in the process. If you build it, they don’t just come, however. You really have to put yourself out there, meet and connect with people and ask for help. I’m still falling down and picking myself back up on a weekly basis. I call it the Entrepreneurial Roller Coaster.
Peace Love & Wine – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
While there is a wine theme, at its core, PLW is really about sisterhood, self-care, creativity, and living your best life. I spent too many years taking life too seriously.
And, I lost my mom over a decade ago. Raised an only child, I have to adopt my sisters. I crave deep female connections and play and that is what I am trying to create with PLW, a brand that celebrates these things. Word of caution: If people don’t like to laugh and get silly, then we are not a fit. Self-improvers and recovering perfectionists welcome. I’m far from perfect (a recovering perfectionist) but I love that I get to practice my own self-care and “living in the moment” while helping others do so too. In Summer 2019, I am planning an Alaska Cruise Retreat.
What sets us apart is our local foodie experiences, adult mermaiding and play (helping women get in touch with their inner mermaid), and that we give back a portion of profits to charity. We also put handcrafted artisan goods in our BOHO BOX, focusing on women artisans in the US. And our current wine partner is OneHope which donates to charity with each item purchased. My OneHope Shop is viaonehope.com/peaceloveandwine and, I’m currently open to adding more “wine mermaids” to my team (people who want to get paid to share our wine for a cause).
Currently, I’m also working on my first book, about collaboration, with my friend Rebecca Randolph.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I’m really proud of The Peace Love & Wine podcast. It sort of started accidentally. Last year, I did a couple of online video interview series to connect with women in business and gain some visibility. It was such a meaningful experience and I wanted to more women to hear the wisdom of these women, So, I decided to use the audio as the initial content for the podcast. http://peaceloveandwine.libsyn.com/website.
I’m also proud of myself for not giving up every time I get frustrated or find that something isn’t quite working. I’m learning not to throw the mermaid out with the sea water and consider the possibility that something just needs a tweak, not to give up altogether. I’m looking for more opportunities to face my discomfort with public speaking and spread the message of Peace Love & Wine. Recently, I’ve been connecting with people in the real estate industry as some of my gifts, cards, and products are an amazing way to stand out and thank a client and follow up.
It’s really important to me to be able to make a difference in finding a cure for ALS and women’s cancers. I have a dear relative who is living with ALS.’
