Today we’d like to introduce you to Sotiris Chrysanthou.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My life has always revolved around music. I am a Musician, Visual and Performing Artist. I was born in 1989 and raised in a musical environment, in Cyprus, and from the age of four, I started to play the piano and violin.
I performed classical music but also Greek folk music in various events, not only in the UK but worldwide. I studied classical music with honors and graduated in 2011 in London, UK. In September 2011, I started my first Master’s Degree in Performance and Visual Practices in the University of Brighton and graduated in 2012, followed by my second Master Degree in Music Composition for Film and Television in 2013.
Since then I was teaching Music (Piano, Vocals, and Theory of Music) in different countries such as Cyprus, Greece, UK, Australia, and the USA.Teaching is one of my favorite thing to do! Music education can help spark a child’s imagination or ignite a lifetime of passion. When you provide a child with new worlds to explore and challenges to tackle, the possibilities are endless.
Music education should not be a privilege for a lucky few, it should be a part of every child’s world of possibility. I also compose Music for various Theater plays and Short films. In 2015, I was a Vocal Coach and choreographer in The Musical Kids, a talent show for the National Television of Cyprus. The Musical Kids was a talent show in a National Television Station ‘SIGMA TV,’ Cyprus.
12 kids, aged 8-15 with talent in Singing, dance and theatre were divided into four teams. The show lasted for 20 episodes with every episode to be different and unique! Every week with different songs from famous Musicals, Cinema, and Pop and Rock charts all the kids were ready as professionals to amazed their audiences but also the four judges. The show ended with the 1st winner to be George Michaelides from my team!
I’m always with a bag in my hand, and traveling the whole world! What’s, is traveling for me? You might feel like you’re stuck in a rut in your daily life. Or you’re yearning for something exciting and different. You’re craving new experiences and new challenges.
Travel is the ideal place to test yourself. It pushes people to their limits and gets them outside their comfort zone. Learning! Learning is a strong reason why I love to travel. I want to experience something unfamiliar and leave with new skills or knowledge. Seeing the world is more educational than a high school or college class. This condensed crash course in discovering how the rest of the world lives actually will cover subjects like history, geography, and sociology.
Every destination has something unique to teach visitors, and immersing themselves in a completely different world is the best learning experience. I travel to learn something specific: a new language, a new cuisine, aspects of a different culture, or a deeper appreciation of faith or spirituality. Traveling in different countries, it helped me open my mind. I realize that there’s no one way to live life.
Meeting people from other places have shown me that my world view isn’t the same as everyone else’s. You can’t imagine how different life is in another place until you see for yourself. Everything from work to family to beliefs to interests is not what you might expect from your own experience. The different setting will also help you discover and consider fresh ideas you hadn’t thought of before. You’ll come home with different notions and possibilities.
At the moment after living in London for five years, and two years in Australia I’m here in Los Angeles! I found myself directing a unique Radio Station (LA GREEK HEBREW RADIO) but also being a Vocal Coach/Piano Teacher, Singer and on May a Judge for the Intercontinental Music Awards in Hollywood! At the same time I compose music for various theater plays but also short film here in Hollywood!
And Always remember: “The only truth is music.”
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
We all know being an artist isn’t easy. Often, our fears feel very isolating: most people around us have regular jobs, families and financial security — we just don’t. It’s easy to get wrapped up in the fear and doubt of it all, and it’s especially easy to feel like you’re the only one who’s going through it.
We’d love to hear more about what you do.
Musician & Performing and Visual Artist this is my everyday life routine which I just love!
