Meet Sophia Kapri of HVN ON ERTH in Highland Park

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sophia Kapri.

Sophia, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Being the daughter of a multi-faceted creative father is part of the reason why I am exactly where I stand now. Anything my father seen visually he was able to manifest into its physical form through fashion, branding, and visual art. These qualities in my father were embedded in me at a young age with music having been my first love. Art – whether it was in the studio, in the kitchen, or designing in front of a computer opened up doors that led me to ask questions about our existence, how to heal and be healed, how to share love through the food, music, film, and visual art. HVN ON ERTH was gifted to me through a vision I had after waking up from a dream.

As an artist of multiple facets, my visual and graphic design artistry was being called on this particular day in 2016. I rushed to my computer and busted out my wacom tablet. I sat in front of my laptop and began to bring to fruition what I seen visually. The sun, water, and two hands that represented love, growth, eternal life, a 360 cycle, and the people, which became HVN ON ERTH’s stamp. Healing and inspiring externally and internally through all forms of art and life granted me the permission to walk in a purpose bigger than myself. The external aspect of HVN ON ERTH is where my visual art and unisex plant based products live and the internal aspect of HVN ON ERTH is where my food, recipes, and sonic frequencies live.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There will always be hurdles. Trials and errors. That’s the only way we develop. It’s through experience and making sure we don’t repeat the same mistakes over again. Something I’ve appreciated on my journey with HVN ON ERTH was patience. I’ve created and I’ve failed, but I never stopped moving. As a Virgo, this came with perfectionism and over-analyzing rather than just being and most importantly being present. I’ve invested into and created HVN ON ERTH by myself. I didn’t have the support I have now in the beginning stages. Not everyone will understand or believe a dream or vision until you bring it into its physical form. Till people can actually see it, feel it, and experience it for themselves. I never had investors or the luxury of ‘financial freedom’ so to speak. So I kept working day and night making concoctions in the kitchen, perfecting my products, recording my music, and kept taking on artistic job opportunities to eventually be where I am in this present moment.

HVN ON ERTH – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from others?
I am the Mother of HVN ON ERTH. As a creative director of my brand, I’ve been able to create with like-minded individuals and share the experiences in various forms. With art being defined as an expression, which I agree to be true, it is a sonic and visual language that will either bring the people closer together or instill fear and separate our reason and purpose for being here. HVN ON ERTH became bigger than me once I embarked on how vital healing ourselves was starting with what we put in and on our body. Peace lives in this process. As a vessel, I was set apart the moment the gift was granted to me to share using all five senses. HVN ON ERTH thrives off of pure intention and love.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I am most grateful and proud to have a community of people that do understand what HVN ON ERTH is. That there are people with an appetite to be and do better. I give thanks for the smiles and sense of peace and comfort that I have been able to instill in others as well as receive. I am most proud to have a business partner now that understands HVN ON ERTH’s mission, is manifesting and sharing her gifts with me, and who happens to be my best-friend and stepmother, Miki Hirota. I am able to launch HVN ON ERTH’s upcoming collection exactly the way I envisioned because of her support.
