Today we’d like to introduce you to Sonya Neks
Hi Sonya, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started dancing in childhood. At first, it was just my favorite hobby, over time, it grew into a lifelong profession. By the age of 16, I was already teaching dance, performing as an artist, and fully dedicating my life to dancing.
I became very popular in my country when I began my dance career, inspiring many young girls to start dancing. My videos gained millions of views on YouTube, making me widely recognized even before Instagram existed. Later, life led me into the fitness industry, and I fell in love with fitness.
In general, fitness had always been part of my dance career because I believe that all dancers should have an aesthetically beautiful, toned, and healthy body. So, fitness entered my life alongside dance. However, I started actively engaging in fitness about 15 years ago when I began competing as a fitness bikini model. This brought me recognition in the fitness industry. To this day, fitness remains an integral part of my life.
I dedicate a lot of time to my body, not because I have to, but because it has become a necessity—it’s simply my lifestyle. Currently, I am a VIP fitness coach. I have multiple projects related to dance and fitness. Right now, I am working on my own app with various fitness programs and dreaming of launching a small offline business in Los Angeles—something related to coffee, news, and healthy nutrition.
Of course, I am also growing my blog, working as an influencer, and continuing to inspire people to live a healthy lifestyle and achieve a strong, beautiful body.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Of course, this journey wasn’t always smooth. But I’ll say this—when you choose a profession that aligns with your true calling, there shouldn’t be too many obstacles in your way because you’ve hit the mark. You genuinely love what you do. It’s not the kind of job that drains you completely, leaving you searching for ways to restore your energy. When you love what you do, your work fuels you endlessly.
But of course, there were challenges along the way. There was a time when I couldn’t afford dance classes, and I had to find ways to make it work. There were different periods of moving, changing countries—and all of that resets you, forcing you to find the strength to rebuild a familiar path from scratch.
My recent move to Los Angeles two years ago was another major reset. But because I already know what it takes to be successful and how to build the road to success, I applied my proven methods and, within just two years, have achieved great results here. And I continue moving forward toward my goals.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I work in two fields—fitness and dance. My main focus is fitness. Right now, I’m developing my own app, where people can get everything they need in one place—workouts, nutrition plans, step tracking, calorie tracking, a running tracker, and more. I’ve dreamed of creating something like this for a long time, and now I’m actively working in this direction.
Besides that, I’m a personal coach with my own unique method for weight loss and body transformation. I know how to achieve lasting results, not just temporary changes. I am living proof of this—I’ve maintained the same weight for years while keeping my abs visible. I know exactly how to build and sustain a sculpted, toned body without harming health, and I teach my clients to do the same.
I’m also behind an incredible project—fitness tours around the world. My partners and I have traveled to more than 25 countries, organizing over 40 tours in just four years. Right now, we’re on a break, but we will definitely bring this project back. In addition, I run amazing group boot camps for women.
As for dance, I’ve put my dance career slightly on pause because it’s important to focus on one thing at a time. However, I still lead dance groups in Los Angeles, open to any woman who wants to develop grace, sensuality, confidence, and self-expression. Our classes run as a course—over a month, we learn choreography, work on body awareness, strengthen our foundations, stretch, and improve flexibility. At the end of the month, each woman gets to film her own solo reel, making her feel like an absolute star for the day.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Yes, I consider myself a person who is willing to take risks. In fact, I’m very decisive. If I feel an internal impulse and know what I want, I don’t overthink it—I just follow that impulse and take action. And more often than not, it’s a risky move.
Take my relocation to another country, for example. It was a huge risk—to reset everything completely. Being a successful person in one country and then moving to a place where no one knows you, where you have to start from scratch—that’s a big leap. I see that as a major risk.
In my work, I’m also not afraid to take bold steps. I often dive into new experiences without overanalyzing, and most of the time, those experiences turn out to be positive. I truly believe that we have to take risks—because without them, success is almost impossible. Not every risk will lead to success, but every risk will give you valuable experience, which helps you build your path forward.
