Meet Sina Rezvanpour of Sina Rez Law in Santa Monica

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sina Rezvanpour.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I came out of law school in 2010 and was fortunate enough to be hired by a prestigious international law firm. Tall building downtown, my own secretary, more money than I deserved. I made it, right? Well, no — not quite.

It turns out working in a massive corporate structure wasn’t all that it was cracked up to me. I knew almost immediately that I was a square peg in a round hole, but I had no idea what to do about it. It took a couple of years of reflection, soul searching, and saving before I finally was confident enough to reject the idea of staying in a job that didn’t make me happy. This was really a pivotal time in my life that forever changed my trajectory.

After I left corporate life, I partnered with a few friends to start our own law firm. We learned everything on our own and had lots of fun doing it. We got to deal directly with our clients and all kinds of cases and took pride in our work.

A few years later, we decided to each go our own separate way. This was the beginning of Sina Rez Law in 2017. Once I started on my own path, I really found happiness and this reflected in my work. I think clients appreciate dealing with a happy lawyer (there’s not so many of us), and I find it comforts them in a difficult times.

As my firm continues to grow, I strive to create a work environment that is more positive, welcoming and comfortable when compared to my corporate beginnings. Most importantly, I take pride in having happy employees!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Smooth? No way. As a lawyer, you’re thrown in the middle of some dispute — sometimes small, sometimes monumentally big, so the pressure is always on. This pressure is what I think is responsible for growth and thickens your skin.

Personal Injury lawyers’ fees are a percentage of a case’s value. You may be working on a million-dollar case, but that comes with million-dollar problems (always). A large value case means that your client has likely suffered a life-changing injury or lost a loved one in an accident. Understandably, these circumstances come with a ton of baggage. You have to be prepared to be way more to this person than just their lawyer — one specific example includes convincing a client that they had a drug problem and driving them to a rehab institute.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Sina Rez Law story. Tell us more about the business.
Sina Rez Law is a Personal Injury and Lemon Law firm. I’m proud to say that we’ve made a bit of a reputation for ourselves when it comes to client satisfaction, and we earned this reputation by spending major 1-on-1 time with our clients.

All too often, you hear of a lawyer of law firm completely forgetting about a client and their case. We call these law firms “mills” and you’ve likely seen many of their billboards. That’s where we differ. We are selective about what clients we take on. This allows us to spend more time on fewer cases so we’re not spread thin.

Our clients deal directly with their lawyer, instead of having to call a receptionist, who transfers you to a paralegal, who tells you your lawyer isn’t available to speak with you today, or this week, or ever.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
As a Personal Injury lawyer, you only succeed by maximizing on your occasional good luck. Every time a potential client calls, it’s like a roll of the dice. You don’t know if this potential case could be worth $5,000 or $5,000,000.

My personal approach is to plant as many “seeds” as I can. By “seeds” I mean happy clients. The more happy clients I have out there in the world, the more likely I am to be referred a life-changing case.

I’ve noticed that the harder I work, the happier my clients are, and the luckier I get!
