So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Encouraging women to love themselves and help them in that process has always been my forte. Being a young mom and having to always maintain a full-time job left me little to no time to myself so when it came to getting ready for the day, I would only have time to enhance my eyes.
Then one morning, as I woke up to do it all over again, I felt discontent with where I was professionally in life. Don’t get me wrong, I was happy to able to provide for my children and I was happy to be the wife to my wonderful husband but as I was getting ready for another day at work, I asked myself, “Is this it? What about my need to be professionally successful?” Then I thought to myself as I was finishing up my eye make up, “Enhancing my eyes just makes me feel so good. My self-confidence goes from 0 to 100 real quick!”
That same day I signed up for an eyelash extension course which would certify me as lash artist in just two days. Then I asked myself, “Silvia, can you do this? You have two kids (now three!), a husband and a full-time job!” Honestly, that was the last time I ever questioned my abilities.
April of 2018 is when “Her Little Eyelash Extensions” came to life and began to service all types of people to individual eyelash extensions. Ever since then, I have not stopped and have been focused on perfecting my craft to be the best there is. As you may know, the eyelash extension business has become very popular and although many people do it, only a few are capable to do it right. I take great pride in my art and always will because my passion to enhance the beauty in others becomes greater after each one of my amazing clients and I am grateful to have the ability to make them smile.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It most definitely has not been smooth sailing but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’ve worked really hard to get where I am today and will continue to do so. Staying consistent with my marketing and making time to see my clients has been one of my biggest struggles. My 9-5 job as an optometric technician use to take up a lot of my time, only allowing me to see my clients after work. In the mix of all of this I still had to be a mother, wife and give my family the time they deserve. I’m blessed to have a wonderful husband that has been my rock through all of this. When I realized that it was all becoming a bit much I decided to go part-time at my job to allow my business to grow and give my children more time with their mother.
Please tell us about Her Little Secret Eyelash Extensions.
Her Little Secret Eyelash Extensions is a service where I apply one eyelash extension to each one of my client’s natural eyelashes enhancing their natural eye beauty. Eyelash extensions are used to enhance the length, curliness, fullness, and thickness of natural eyelashes.
Lash extensions typically 2-3 weeks with proper client aftercare. That said, because each person’s growth is somewhat variable (just hair growth), I suggest maintenance every 2.5-3 weeks to maintain a full look.
My end goal after each and every one of my appointments is to have a satisfied client but also make sure I provide a personable experience for them. That smile when they look in the mirror is absolutely everything to me! If I could do a happy dance right in front of them, I would (haha).
I’m proud of the way I’ve established my clientele, So far everyone is referral based and that leads me to think my clients are HAPPY! I always tell my clients (now friends) that the best compliment I can get from them is a referral because it just is. I love meeting new people and giving them another reason to smile when they look in the mirror. If I had to choose one thing that sets me apart from others in this business is my passion and dedication to please my clients but still educate them about their eyelash health.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I don’t think I’d do anything differently. Everything that I have in my life right now has made me the individual I am today for my business. The sleepless nights, juggling family, working for someone else and being my own boss has taught me I can do whatever I set my mind to.
