Meet Sidney Nicole Rogers

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sidney Nicole Rogers.

Sidney, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve been acting and modeling since the age of four. Apparently, around that age, I stood on a table a shouted at my parents that I was going to move to California and become a big actress; I can happily say that I am gradually making that little girl proud. I’m originally from Chester, Virginia and moved to Los Angeles straight out of high school to study acting at the American Musical And Dramatic Academy. It was there where I had phenomenal teachers pour into me, not only within my acting but with my writing as well. Growing up, I would write poems, songs, and the occasional monologue, but my confidence was never in that field. I am beyond grateful for that support and am thrilled to call myself multifaceted: an actress, writer, producer, and model….and I’m not stopping there.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In everything I do, I walk by faith. That itself comes with obstacles: naysayers, occasional anxiety, and trust in not only yourself but in other people. I heard God clearly when I was nearing graduation at AMDA, He told me that I would be acting full time – no part time job needed. That sounded amazing to me but also terrifying…but like I said, I walk by faith. You’re talking about the girl who applied to only one college that was on the opposite side of the country because I heard from God that that’s where I belonged. I thought back to that fearless, 17 year old girl and knew that if He had done it before, that He would do it again. So I did it; I took the leap of faith and have been acting, modeling, and writing full time ever since. I’m not going to say it has been easy; there’ve been times where I’m ballin’ like a Georgia Housewife and other times, where I’ve had to conserve. But within all of that, I’ve been able to explore amazing roles, meet incredible people, and live life to the fullest while walking in my purpose and I would not change a thing about that, about my journey.

Tell us about your work– what should we know?
Farida and I started Mud Girls Productions to have an outlet to share our stories but it has evolved to much greater than that. Although we are an up and coming production company, we have a vision and are passionate about showcasing unique and diverse narratives for all to enjoy. We strive to create a platform for women, people of color, those with disabilities and disorders, and highlight issues that are normally swept under the rug. Mud Girls Productions, like our individual purposes, is beyond Farida and myself – it’s for all of us. We hope to continue to produce thought provoking content and have outreach programs as well. In the words of Issa Rae, “We got y’all!”

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
To put it quite simply, my faith and love in God is the ultimate quality that has contributed to my success. He is my rock, I would not be able to do this without Him.
