Meet Shirin Yadegar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shirin Yadegar.

Hi Shirin, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
As a new mother with a background in journalism, I was shocked that there was no central trusted source to help moms navigate motherhood, so I created LA Mom Magazine to help answer moms’ questions about breastfeeding to creating their own business. My intention in creating La Mom Magazine was to inspire moms to thrive and raise kind, curious, and compassionate children. In addition to the magazine, I also create a talk show, Moms Matter, where I amplify other voices who inform, inspire, and educate parents. My passion is to really create a moral, loving community of moms who are raising the next generations of superstars!

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The first year, I made NO money and was exhausted juggling three kids, a husband, a social life, and a new business. In my heart, I knew moms needed this community, so I continued to create content, and slowly, I began to see glimpses of hope monetarily and, more importantly, from moms. Emails and messages about how I changed their life was all I needed to continue on my journey.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As a journalist, I shifted my specialty to what I knew best: MOTHERHOOD. I am most proud of the family I have created. I love to share advice and stories on how to cultivate a loving, respectful marriage after 24 years. How to raise 4 driven, kind, and compassionate daughters who each have their own identity. I am authentic and share all of our ups and down because motherhood is messy, but I emphasize that everything is a choice, and we have to choose wisely. Not everyone is going to like us and what we have to say, but we need to speak from our heart.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
My parents raised me with a strong work ethic. As immigrants, they said we must always have a career and stand on our own two feet. While I am a committed mother, they always told me you must have a career and path for yourself. My husband is my biggest supporter, investing in me financial and emotionally. My four daughters always cheer me on when I want to quit. All of my amazing fellow mommy subscribers and followers give me the drive to continue to create positive, enlightening content.
