Today we’d like to introduce you to Sherry Salito-Forsen.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
It was a trip to Europe where she became fascinated with glass as an art form and the
fascination continues to this day. She originally started her glass career working for a stained
glass studio and now creates fused glass art.
One thing I don’t share very often, because I’m not sure if it’s appropriate…… I come from a highly dysfunctional background…parents divorced when I was 5…I was moved around between parents, grandmother, uncle. I was sexually abused…. see?? it’s depressing. But the thing I learned is that art is a wonderful escape.
Please tell us about your art.
“A lifetime fascination with form, color and texture have been refined over the years into the current artworks created in my studio. Assisted by my talented husband, I am exploring various multimedia collaborations, opening up many exciting new avenues of expression and creativity.” For over 40 years Sherry Salito-Forsen has lived and worked, in her words, “Playing with glass!”. Her studio provides original, one-of-a-kind kiln-formed glass for public, private, and corporate spaces. Studio services range from initial conception to the fabrication and sometimes installation of the final artwork. Sherry learned early on how art could be an escape from reality. For Sherry “playing with glass” is her favorite escape from our crazy world.
What do you think about conditions for artists today? Has life become easier or harder for artists in recent years? What can cities like ours do to encourage and help art and artists thrive?
Making a living creating art has always been challenging. I believe it is harder for more artists since our last recession…plus given the chaos in the world, people are afraid to commit to buying
How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
Festival of Arts Laguna Beach July 5 -Sept 1 2018. People can support my art by purchasing it for their homes at the many Festivals I participate in
