Meet Sherri Loomer of Your Animals Best Friend in Huntington Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sherri Loomer.

Sherri, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My dream job was to work with dogs since I was a child. I have always felt drawn to them. I have been very fortunate to achieve my dream after 20 odd years working for other people in various industries. About 16 years ago, I lost my mother to depression and then suicide. After this happened it motivated me to make sure that I was happy because life can end at a moment’s notice. I started my company Your Animals Best Friend and never looked back! I started by offering services to my clients in their home and neighborhood such as dog walks and pet sitting visits and overnights when they went out of town. This has evolved since starting to having a location in addition which we call The Dog House where we offer day and evening care, socialization and dog sleepovers. We are on site with the dogs 24-7 and our environment is set up as much like a home environment as possible. We customize our space on a daily basis for the specific dogs we have and their specific needs.

Has it been a smooth road?
Owning a business that is open 365 days a year 24-7 has definitely been difficult. I have not had a day off since I have opened my center in 2011. I work very long hours myself and I manage all of my employees and every department that a company has as well as take care of the dog’s hands on every day. If I did not love this I wouldn’t be able to do it. Truly a labor of love. Finding and keeping good employees has also been difficult. Most people think it is all fun and no hard work and that is not the case.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Your Animals Best Friend story. Tell us more about the business.
Your Animals Best Friend provides loving care at The Dog House for your dog or dogs. Day and evening care and Dog Sleepovers as well as socialization groups. No cages.

We offer overnight pet (dog, cat, bird etc.) sitting at your house or multiple visits. We also offer dog walks. All of our services are custom to your needs.

I am proud that we are a company that tries to work with client’s budgets and we customize our services to our client’s specific needs. We do not nickel and dime our clients to make more money. Our rates include everything. We are in this business because we love dogs and all animals. We have received 49 5-star reviews on Yelp.

What sets us apart: Onsite 24-7 and open 365 days a year, We customize our services and drop off and pick up hours to our clients’ needs not ours! We are customized environment that is set up for all types of dogs with various needs.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I see the industry going towards how I do things at my location. The trend used to be cages and now it has changed to cage free which is what I offer. I see others offering more flexibility like I do. More and more services.
