Today we’d like to introduce you to Shelby Castile.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, and I have a private practice in Newport Beach.
At the age of 32, fresh out of a very challenging part of my life, I took a leap of faith and moved myself from Northern CA to Southern CA to open my private practice.
Once I landed and settled, I began to dive deeper into my yoga practice, which is when I started a yoga teacher training program with Cloud Nine Yoga. I continued on to get my 500-hour certification (RYT- 500).
Since then (10 years later), my private practice has grown, my yoga practice is flourishing and my connection to self is that much stronger.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not! Is there such thing as a smooth road?!? It has been challenging to be a female business owner in this world today. But I have come so far, learned a tremendous amount and have SO much to be grateful for. This is what I try to remember when things get bumpy.
Please tell us about A Holistic Approach.
I see primarily high functioning adults in my private practice and I specialize in all relationship issues including separation, divorce and infidelity. I work to assist each individual/couple with tools for better communication and acceptance. Aside from couple’s therapy, I have extensive experience working with anxiety, depression, grief, panic attacks, chronic stress, addictions, and eating disorders.
I am also an Advanced Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-500). I began practicing yoga over 15 years ago and immediately fell in love with the benefits of the practice. I thrive when I see my patients benefiting from the duality of these two therapeutic approaches.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Hands down, playing soccer. I was super soccer stud!
I grew up in Davis, and the freeing feeling of riding my bike through the greenbelt (on my way to soccer practice) will always stay with me.
