Meet Sharon Gonzalez of Sweetest Love Events in Irvine

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharon Gonzalez.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Sharon. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I always loved to plan events. In high school I was the rallies commissioner, and in college I had put on luaus, fashion shows, health fairs, and international mission trips. One day I realized that people actually get paid to do events as a career, and I decided I wanted to be an event planner!

Being a hopeless romantic, I specifically wanted to be a wedding planner. I had no idea how to become a wedding planner, so I literally bought a book called “Guide to Become A Wedding Planner”. The first chapter talked about going to networking events around my local area. I did some research and found some amazing wedding & event industry organizations where I met my future mentors and fellow vendors in the industry that would change my life forever.

Seven years and hundreds of weddings later – I’ve worked for many of the best companies in the event industry, and started my own wedding planning business last year!

In my first year of business, my company Sweetest Love Events was published in Style Me Pretty, Southern California Bride magazine, and won the Wedding International Professional Association’s Rising Star Award & WeddingWire’s Couple’s Choice Award!

I’ve fallen in love with weddings and I’ve never looked back since! It was the biggest and best risk I ever took for myself. I took the leap and the rest is history!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
From owning my own business, it has been challenging learning what it takes to run a successful business on top of the time & work required for planning weddings I’ve had to learn to make time to work “on” my business versus “in” my business. I work more than I ever did before now, but the perks of having my own business is worth it. Even though I’m constantly faced with new challenges, I’m constantly growing into a better leader, business owner, and wedding planner in the process. The experience has been so rewarding and I’m excited for everything that is to come with Sweetest Love Events!

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Sweetest Love Events – what should we know?

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I owe much of my success to the planners and companies in the weddings & events industry that I’ve worked for in the past. They’ve taught me so much about the industry – how to do our job well, what it means to be professional, what it means to be a great leader, how to be a team player, and living a life I feel excited about. I’m so thankful for my experiences and for their mentorship supporting me in my growth.

I am thankful for my team that works extremely hard and does an incredible job on all our events. They care about each and every client as much as I do, and our clients rave about them!

I’m also thankful that I’ve been able to work with the best vendors in the industry that are amazing at what they do and are great team players. They all care about creating an incredible day for our clients from beginning to end, and I owe much of my company’s success to them as well. Teamwork makes the dream work!

I’m grateful for the support of my family & fiance. They have seen me take big risks, encouraged me, and have been there for me through it all.

Lastly, I’d like to thank all our couples that have trusted Sweetest Love Events with their special day. We have the most genuinely amazing couples and they inspire us to do what we do everyday!
