Meet Sharon Giloh and Orly Atias of Helena Rose Jewelry in Beverly Hills

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharon Giloh and Orly Atias.

Sharon and Orly, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Sharon: I grew up in my family’s diamond business in downtown LA. I remember feeling so inspired watching the artistic process of transforming a loose stone into an exquisite piece of jewelry. After college, I got my license in gemology, and eventually collaborated with my childhood best friend, Orly, to create a jewelry brand of our own. Orly has a background in curating and repurposing vintage and estate jewelry. Both being in the industry, we really craved something fresh and different. Our shared love for antique and vintage jewelry is what inspired our vision and that’s how it all began.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Orly: Haha if you consider juggling the eight children between our two families in addition to creating and running our own business, I wouldn’t exactly call it a smooth road. I am a strong believer that good energy and persistence are the key to success. Sharon and I had a very clear artistic vision and can definitely be sticklers for even the smallest detail. It was also really important to us that our pieces were top quality and at the same time created using only ethically sourced stones and repurposed gold. With all of that in mind, you can say it was a process finding the right team of skilled artisans and the most honorable gemstone dealers to work with. We were lucky to have had mentors in the jewelry industry who really believed in our vision and graciously guided and advised us through our journey!

Please tell us about Helena Rose Jewelry. What are you most proud of?
What are we most proud of? That’s a tough one! The two of us share an admiration for the quality craftsmanship and attention to detail found in older pieces and so we really poured or blood, sweat and tears into every single design. We wanted to create a line that is reminiscent of a time when every piece of jewelry was a work of art. One of our favorite designs and best sellers are our chunky initial rings. We are especially proud of this design because we created the font ourselves! It took weeks and weeks of hard work going back and forth tweaking the dimension and detail of every single letter until we absolutely loved each one.

What role has luck (good luck or bad luck) played in your life and business?
We believe in taking control of your own luck in the form of hard work and good energy.
