So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
CCM Trucking and Logistics was established in 2016 from an idea of a childhood friend who was already driving a truck at the time for another company.
At the time, it was a drivers market in regards to the linehaul rate, to move freight from one location to another was at an all-time high. The company started with two truck/trailer before growing the fleet to 18 truck/trailer within a two years span.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The trucking industry is a roller coaster industry to enter into as an entrepreneur.
Two key factors in the trucking industry is to find a niche in the business and keep operating costs to a minimum in order to deal with variable costs such as driver costs, fuel and mechanical breakdown.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the CCM Trucking and Logistics story. Tell us more about the business.
I am the Fleet Manager of the business which consists of managing and coordinating daily operations for the drivers in my fleet. It also includes oversight of fleet maintenance program.
What sets us apart from other transportation carriers is that our partners (drivers) are the face of the company and basically do all of the recruiting for us, which is not common in the transportation industry due to greed from owners.
Today, CCM is best known for their help with Owner Operator start-ups, Fleet Management and safety consulting.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I never really believed in luck, but I do know if you wake up everyday and put in the work, the grind will pay off.
