Meet Shannon Nava of Shannon Patrice Designs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shannon Nava.

Shannon, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am a teacher by day and a maker, well all the time. My golden hours in my maker’s space is in the evening after I’ve made dinner and can relax into my creative space. I’ve always enjoyed making gifts and giving flowers from my garden.

As a balance to my teaching, I wanted a creative outlet, and I have found that in Florals and Fibers, my two favorite mediums. The Central Coast of California has a vibrant makers community. I’ve enjoyed participating in local makers markets and have have been inspired by the many brilliant and creative artisans in our area.

Has it been a smooth road?
The biggest challenge for myself was pushing through the self-doubt in putting my creative self out there. I’ve failed a few times, I’ve learned with every step of the journey, and much credit goes to my talented and inspiring friends and family I am lucky enough to be surrounded by, they have encouraged me, and I’m truly grateful.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Florals and Fibers, handmade home decor and floral design. I combine my love of the natural world, fiber yarn, flowers, and tillandsia air plants to create one of a kind handmade home decor and floral arrangements for all inspiring spaces and occasions.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I’m from the Central Coast of California, and we have a rich and vibrant makers community.
