Meet Shanice Johnson of Editorial Access

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shanice Johnson.

Hi Shanice, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve always believed that storytelling, when done visually, strategically, and emotionally, has the power to move both people and brands. My journey began in the corporate world, where I spent years wearing many hats across marketing, project and program management, and large-scale event activations for Fortune 500 companies. Those experiences taught me structure, discipline, and how powerful brands operate, but they also sparked something deeper.
After years of helping major brands tell their stories in multiple capacities, I realized there was a gap. So many talented creators were producing incredible work, but lacked the strategy, structure, or support to grow sustainably, and I wanted to change that. That realization led me to create Editorial Access, a boutique talent and brand management agency built to bridge culture and commerce.
What began as a deeply personal mission to create a space where women who look like me could be seen, supported, and celebrated has evolved into a collaborative house representing visionaries across beauty, fashion, wellness, lifestyle, and beyond.
Today, Editorial Access stands for more than management; it represents access: to opportunity, to strategy, and to storytelling that drives meaningful, lasting impact.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The path to building Editorial Access wasn’t smooth, but it was necessary. Early on, I was eager to collaborate and enter existing spaces as an asset, but I was often met with closed doors. Those experiences could have been discouraging; instead, they fueled me. I realized that if opportunities didn’t exist, I would create my own “yes.”
In a space where creativity runs wild but strategy is scarce, I learned to turn gaps into opportunities, designing systems, creating structure, and guiding collaborations that actually work. Every setback became a blueprint for how we help creators grow, guide brands with intention, and redefine what modern influence can be.

As you know, we’re big fans of Editorial Access. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Editorial Access is a boutique talent and brand agency focused on reshaping storytelling across beauty, fashion, lifestyle, and beyond. What we do is connect creators with brands in ways that feel authentic, strategic, and impactful. We specialize in building collaborations that not only reach audiences but truly resonate and leave a lasting impression.
What sets us apart is our approach; we believe influence isn’t just about numbers. It’s about intentional storytelling, aligning vision and values, and creating partnerships that are meaningful for both the creator and the brand. Every opportunity we facilitate is designed to support long-term growth, set creators up for financial freedom, and give brands narratives that connect deeply with their audiences.
What we’re most proud of is how we empower creators and brands to tell their stories strategically and authentically. Our goal is to transform how influence is perceived today, creating sustainable, purposeful, and lasting impact across industries and creative spaces.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory isn’t just one specific moment — it’s really about the way my mom always showed up for me. Whether she was bringing cupcakes to school for my birthday, surprising me at dance recitals with flowers, or finding little ways to make ordinary days feel special, she was always present. She carried so much as a working parent, but she never let that stop her from making me feel seen, supported, and celebrated. Those moments have stayed with me as lasting reminders of her care and love.
