Meet Shai’La Yvonne of DjShai in Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shai’La Yvonne.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Djing was never something I ever considered pursuing! I have always loved music and dancing, but becoming a DJ was a very random hobby that has turned into an amazing career.

In 2015, I bought all the equipment, and I spent about a year or so practicing to myself, with parties for friends and family here and there. So many late nights were spent literally DJing in my living room by myself, and perfecting my craft. When I quit my corporate job and moved to LA, I decided to really test the waters with DJing. I signed up for a few services and BOOM! Private birthday parties, baby showers, corporate events, movie premieres, galas, and fashion shows. I started djing for a celebrity, and that created some great networks as well.

Now, I’m just continuing to build my brand, grow, network, and thrive!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It’s been pretty smooth 🙂

DjShai – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, and I’ve been living in LA for about a year. Before moving to LA, my dj experiences included residency at Romper Room and Carbon Lounge in San Francisco, and Era and Rock Steady in Oakland. Since moving to LA, I have dj’d at Hyperion Public in Studio City, O’Brien Lounge in Sherman Oaks, Kings Head in Santa Monica, and private events at Lab Art in Hollywood.

I specialize in private events and have worked with brands such as Beach Bunny Swimwear, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Kaiser Permanente. Last summer, I worked with Kia Motors at their private Malibu Beach House, throwing parties for celebrities like Adrienne Bailon, Mario Lopez, and Gina Martinez. Adrienne Bailon is my biggest client, and it was an honor for her to fly me to Paris to DJ her wedding that was featured on the daytime TV show ‘The Real.’ So far, my trip to Paris has been my most proud moment as a DJ! Many more to come…

I am a fully functional mobile DJ! I have a large and diverse music library that accommodates any and all events, however my speciality is Top 40, Hip-Hop, and R&B. Visit my website for sample mixes www.djshai.shailayvonne.com
