Today we’d like to introduce you to Shahnaz Youabian.
Shahnaz, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Originally my wish was to spend additional quality time with my granddaughter, and at 3 years old, she was obsessed with face painting. At most events, she would run directly to the face painter and ask for a big butterfly. So I decided to purchase a face-painting kit and we made it a weekly routine with my granddaughter. Years later, I’ve merged my hobby into a business. I started with Face Painting and I have developed and enhanced my skills. I now offer additional services like Henna, Glitter Tattoo, Airbrush Tattoo, Feather Extensions, Flash Tattoo, and most recently I started Candle Henna Art. I’ve been honored to have brought many smiles to other people. I truly love what I do. With over 7 years experience, I’ve worked countless fairs and special events.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It was a very difficult learning curve, trying to find the best and safest products for children and adults. Also starting a business is quite challenging because you need to stay up to date with a website, Facebook, Yelp, Instagram, and a myriad of other responsibilities that come with owning your own business from insurance and licenses. I got to admit the hardest part of the business is developing contacts, making friendships, and building relationships. These truly impact your business success and is truly the deciding factor when people give out references and referrals,
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Shanah Design story. Tell us more about the business.
I do FacePainting, Henna Tattoo, Flash Tattoo, Glitter Extension, Airbrush, and Henna Candle Art. The main service I provide is Face and Body Art. My work sets myself apart from my competitors. I always get big reviews and I stand out from other competitors.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I am very fortunate to have a family play a big part in supporting my career and helping me along the way. In this way, I have been very lucky and fortunate.
