Meet Seth Manheimer of Set and Flow in Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Seth Manheimer.

Seth, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
While an undergrad at Ohio State University, my brother, cousin and I began to work on a web development firm naming it BGT partners and leading it to become of the industries premiere companies. After 17 years we sold the company to Price Waterhouse Coopers and I moved out West for film school.

In 2003, I was accepted into The American Film Institute Conservatory (AFI) filmmakers program in Los Angeles where I earned my Masters of Fine Arts specializing in Directing. My films went on to win many awards and I gained an appreciation for photography and music working for Mixer Magazine and WB records.

My love of art and business all came together with Set and Flow, the best business school I ever could have attended for the yoga and fitness industry was FILM SCHOOL. As the owner of a yoga and fitness studio, I’m directing every single day I have locations, talent, music, lighting and most importantly, every class is a story. The best part is, I don’t have to break down my set at the end of the day.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Set and Flow began as weekly Tuesday night yoga session among friends at my house in the Hollywood Hills, packing 35 people into a room that only fit 30. It was crammed, it was hot and we all loved it. I began looking for a studio space and had the realization that too many people I knew had to visit several facilities to get a well-rounded, class lead, boutique workout. I had the idea of putting all that under one roof: Cycling, Yoga, Pilates, Boxing, HIIT, a place with the highest quantity, quality and variation of classes in the nicest facility at the lowest price.

Was it a smooth road? Not at all. I was a small fish in a sea of fitness giants. Here I was, a sole proprietor with a concept, self-funded, and educating the LA market on heated fitness, Hot Pilates, Barefoot Bootcamp. We won our customers over one class at a time. We made it personal. We fostered a community. Set and Flow started humbly in my home and now the Set and Flow studio is a place many Angelenos call home.

Set and Flow – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Founded in Los Angeles, Set and Flow is a hybrid movement studio offering more than 150 unique and traditional classes per week. Rooted in yoga, Set and Flow has evolved into an “All-tique,” offering a variety of all boutique modalities under one studio. Set and Flow provides a new, forward-thinking and modern approach to traditional practices, with plenty of classes blending seemingly diverging workouts, including yoga, TRX, boxing, pilates, barre, boot camp, and circuit training. This winter, the expansive studio will add two more rooms and modalities to its repertoire, Pilates reformers, and indoor cycling.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
We were recently on the 2018 Emmy Award Winning “The Talk” as one of host’s Eve favorite places and Vogue also did a feature, just to name a few media outlets that have covered us. We also have celebrity clientele like 2019 Golden Nominee Kristen Bell who frequent the studio…and I mean a few times a week. These celebrities also include Set and Flow in their social media.
