Meet Seth Hirsch

Today we’d like to introduce you to Seth Hirsch.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Seth. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I grew up in a broken home in southern Ohio, typical Midwest stuff. Skateboarding, Hip Hop, Rock and all kinds of music gave me a basis to live thru and escape the stress around me. When I was 16, I had a bad knee injury from skateboarding so, that summer when I couldn’t walk I started making my own music on GarageBand. I just kept trying to evolve my sound and ended up moving to Israel after high school, and then to NYC, where I spent some years developing my artistic voice even further. In NYC, I was discovered by some folks who saw my vision and knew they could help make it work. Somehow that all led me to Virginia where I began making my EP (dropping summer 2019) with a bunch of Grammy/Multi-Platinum producers and artists…and now things are taking off. It was sorta like a full 360, to go from listening to stuff like N.E.R.D. and getting Pharrell’s Ice Cream shoes as a Bar Mitzvah gift to getting my big break out there where it all started.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Coming from Ohio, we don’t really have points of reference for how to make it happen. It’s not like coming from a big city with a bunch of big success stories. It’s hard to feel like you’re a unique voice that means something when the rest of the world seems to not give a sh*t about you. When I ventured off to NYC, I was really broke for years, damn near living off of scraps and bumming metro cards, and there were all kinds of family issues and gnarly things in my life that kept breaking my focus away from music. But as soon as I got my foot in the door, it all started to happen really naturally, and I just kept meeting the right people at the right time. I’ve just been following the course of nature as the Daoist folk like to say haha.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I’m a true music artist at heart and like to create different vibes for different head spaces. Sometimes I wanna make a flirty pop song about summer love and sometimes I wanna make a trap banger about isolationism. It’s all about putting together my truths in a way I think would be crazy or interesting while connecting with as many different people as I can.

A few folks from my hometown DM’d me recently and said it was inspiring to see all my work finally paying off. I’m hyped if I can be a source of motivation for other people’s lives. I’m also geeked to have worked with a lot of legendary producers and artists in the past year that I grew up listening to.

I wanna make timeless music that really touches people’s lives, and keeps pushing myself to see where I can go artistically. I feel like I relate to a lot of folks because at the end of the day we’ve all been through crazy stuff and are just trying to find our way. I could’ve fallen into the trap of drugs and crime in Ohio, but I fought hard to get out and I hope people catch some of that light to find their purpose and chase it relentlessly.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Fearlessness, because every part of my journey has required me to live up and let go of what others think.

Also, my Mom, she has always been extremely supportive and she actually believes I can do anything. Everyone on my team is also extremely important and have done a crapload, they’ve stuck with me through the harsh times to help bring the vision in my head to life. And a special shoutout to Darryl Sloan, longtime manager of Hip Hop producer Nottz (Kanye West, Jay Z, etc.), everyone in VA for giving me a lot of guidance on this EP and helping me take things to a whole other level.
