Meet Schenae Rourk of Redwood Resources

Today we’d like to introduce you to Schenae Rourk.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Schenae. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Back in the 90s, I worked on environmental awareness campaigns and disparity studies for a firm in Oakland. I saw then the desperate nature of the utilization of women and Minorities on public contracting opportunities. I then worked in business development and outreach for A/E firms to identify Minority subs to work on city and county jobs. Fast forward I began working with firms with revenues over $3m to build capacity and business growth. Part of our focus now is still business growth and also outreach. We also create messaging through program development: programs like mentor protege, youth and other stakeholder engagement.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Smooth never. I’ve always been told no. I’ve also learned many life lessons and blessings along the way. Ultimately I only have me in the mirror – I am accountable to make things happen.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Redwood Resources – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We specialize in supporting firms with revenues over $3m looking to grow. This could be helping them to identify strategic alliances, new employees or providing technical assistance, creating outreach plans. What sets up apart and what we specialize in is creating creative and innovative programs that message key corporate strengths and goodwill; programs like mentor protege, youth engagement, workforce development and other stakeholder engagement programs.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Expansion is something we are looking forward to. We have an office in Oakland and are building out an office in Los Angeles. I’d like to see us in other major markets like Seattle and New York, Atlanta to name a few.
