Meet Sayuri Tsuchitani of Headspa EN in Beverly Hills

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sayuri Tsuchitani.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Sayuri. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Re-defining Omotenashi from Los Angeles: Sparking Glocalization with Japanese Head Spa

As a hairdresser, I started my career in New York that led me to opportunities to work all over the world from Shanghai, London, Hawaii and now in Beverly Hills, CA. When it comes to wellness and beauty, Los Angeles is one of the powerhouse and trendsetter with A-List Celebrities endorsing Style, Fitness, Yoga, Diets, and others. Now celebrities are exploring and implementing head spa as one of their “must” wellness regiment.

So what is Japanese Headspa? Japanese Headspa originated from the Vedic culture in India over 3000 years ago. The head massage effectively promotes the health of your scalp and hair but also promotes deep sleep which helps relieve stress from your normal structure.

Being an immigrant from Japan, I was brought up by respecting “omotenashi”. My goal is marinate Eastern tradition with Western technique bringing one of a kind wellness experience which harmonizes both physical beauty and psychological or emotional relief at Headspa EN.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road being an immigrant woman and having a language barrier in the beginning or not knowing anyone in the USA who I can trust etc…

Headspa EN – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Headspa EN serves our clients and attends to their physical and spiritual body alike by incorporating Eastern holistic techniques–from Japanese head massage to Ayurvedic Shirodhara therapy into traditional Western styling techniques. I am proud to have my salon because it’s a very new service to the USA and no one does this service except for one salon does similar, but not exactly the same with what I do.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
