Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda G Savage.
Amanda, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’m a comedian who worked in fashion in college… So basically I can pretend to be normal and cool but deep down, I’m a clown. Feminism, LGBT rights and inclusion, in any and all spaces, is the name of my game.
I’m looking for a world where being a woman is lauded and appreciated. I feel it coming.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I slept on a mattress on a floor and did 2-3 stand-up open mics a night. I studied improv in a garage in the valley. I worked four jobs when I landed, etc. etc.
Now, thanks to my full-time job in sales, I eat three meals a day and can create my comedy with precision. Rather than in random desperation. Though, I stand behind much of the material I created in that whirlwind.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Savage Talks – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I’m known for psychoses + education with my show Savage Talks (found on: Instagram & YouTube). The world is a tough place to navigate and so I try to open eyes and help a further understanding that we’re all just human – deeply flawed and beautiful at the same time.
Savage Talks has been a great outlet for me to bring on deeply interesting guests and let them go silly. I interview activists, comedians and artists on what makes them tick (fart) and what they’re driving towards (losing their minds).
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My plans for the future include conducting deeply interesting interviews that engage viewers in the art of great conversation. Next up: Savage Talks Live on Thursday, September 5th. I want to see you there. Yes, I’m talking to you.
