Meet Sasha Floyd of The Glam Shoppe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sasha Floyd

Sasha , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I came up with my brand 6 years ago as a senior in highschool,I had asked a friend one day to let me practice a weave on her. That was my first ever time picking up a sewing needle and thread. I then started off doing sew ins for $45, at this point I was looking at it as extra pocket money. I had no idea how to do hair I just had the concept/idea of how to. However as a kid, my aunts were hairstylists and I always loved to color my hair, and even had the practice doll heads for christmas. It wasn’t until my highschool graduation I decided to construct my very first wig to wear. It was literally old hair I had found and just put it together. I then realized I really did have a talent. I graduated and went to college, having no money as a freshman I used this talent to start providing for myself as a young woman in a new state alone. I started to grow traction from all the girls in my dormitory. It was too a point I would skip classes sometimes to stay in my dorm and do a client. I noticed myself gaining popularity and then went on to practice my very first wig install. Overtime I became better and better. I look back in time and say to my 18 year old self, “Thank you for taking that leap of faith. 6 years later I am 24 years old I have done over 200+ installs & I have an amazing clientele with people I have formed amazing bonds with.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It most definitely has not been an easy road. There is a lot of trial and error I faced. As an LA hairstylist it is hard to get clients sometimes. A lot of LA stylists are well known and the girlies love to go to who is popular. I feel like my hardest challenge has been putting my foot out there to showcase how good my work is, but now I have amazing clients who go and do my promotion for me without me having to ask.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Glam Shoppe?
I specialize in women’s hair. Wigs, ponytails, sew ins, lace frontals, etc. I’m known for my side part installs, my clients LOVE those no matter if it’s a sew in or a wig. What sets me apart from others is that I am truly genuine in anything I do. I love to form bonds with my clients to get them to continuously return to me. I like to make my job fun by offering give aways, sales, raffles, etc. I’m most proud about all the good people I have encountered in my life while being a hairstylist.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
In the next 5-10 years I see myself already being a licensed cosmetologist. I see me incorporating more old school hairstyles into modern day hair. I want to expand my hair brand, hopefully owning my own beauty bar / beauty supply one day. Being a one stop shop for all the girlies to come to.
