Meet Sarah Taylor of All Set Concierge in Greater Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Taylor.

Sarah, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
After college, I had the great fortune of living, working, and traveling around the world. I ventured through some breathtaking places and survived some thrilling adventures in Brazil, Panama, London, Italy, France, Mexico, and across the United States. I met inspiring people at every turn and discovered provocative art, culinary delights, and historical treasures that opened my mind. I wanted to share these insights with the world, so I combined that with my marketing background and created the company that is All Set Concierge!

One thing I know for sure: travel is a luxury. Luxury isn’t meaningless consumption; it’s having experiences that touch your soul. I’ve had so many of these luxuries and I love to share them through my marketing campaigns with my hotel partners, and on my own blog. I highlight the humanity, history, and connection that weave us all together, no matter where we are from.

On a recent trip, I realized how lucky I was to be able to travel and how much of a luxury travel truly is. The TSA security agent commented that she loved my ring and I told her I had bought it in South Korea and that she should visit someday. She just rolled her eyes and said she’d never be able to go there, and in that moment I felt fortunate to have had that experience. But never say “never”! If you set your mind to it, you can travel to your dream destinations with careful planning.

Has it been a smooth road?
Entrepreneurship is definitely not a smooth road, but the struggles that it throws at you are part of what help you refine your message, your business, and ultimately yourself. As a content creator that focuses on travel and hospitality, I find that although social media and digital marketing are not new, a majority of hotel managers and their marketing teams are not well versed with these new mediums. So it’s a bit of a struggle because I often have to spend more time educating my clients on these newer marketing channels, taking my time away from the creative side, which I love!

I recently learned in a Hootsuite seminar on social media ROI that 80% of CMOs are not using the correct metrics to measure their digital media campaigns, which helped me understand my clients better. At least I know that I’m not the only content creator dealing with this particular obstacle in my business – we’re all learning! I suspect that as marketing professionals become more adept at measuring and implementing effective marketing metrics, I will have an easier time creating and implementing my campaigns.

Although I have the normal struggles that most entrepreneurs have, i.e., no golden parachute, lack of funding, finding the right employees, etc., I’ve been very resourceful with the projects I’ve done and have produced a diverse body of work for hotels and destinations around the world. I could not have done this without the great support network of mentors, friends, and other professionals who have helped me along the way.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
My work as a content producer showcases what makes a destination unique, and why you’d want to travel there. One element that I like to feature in my travel campaigns is an interview with someone who brings that place to life and who can provide a unique perspective on what makes their city special. I’ve had the great fortune of interviewing the most esteemed graffiti artist in São Paulo, the first astronaut to tweet from space, an Olympic medalist, an award-winning tailor in London, and a deejay in Rio who is paving the way for other female musicians in her community. Each of these people has given life to the story of the destination. It’s people that truly make you connect with a place, and I try to highlight their voice in a creative way through my work.

This is what sets me apart as a company and as an artist, and it’s what I’m most proud of since I’ve secured all of these interviews and campaigns on my own. My work speaks for itself and the quality and uniqueness of my stories are what keep people engaged and wanting to book their next trip to these amazing places!

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least about our city?
I love that Los Angeles is a dynamic city with a thriving art, food, and cultural scene. Being a native of L.A., I’ve seen it evolve over the years. I did move away from Los Angeles for a while, which I think made me appreciate this evolution even more when I returned. The plethora of events, concerts, film screenings, and community gatherings that happen outdoors almost year-round because of our awesome weather is unmatched by most cities around the world. We are very lucky!

But to get to all of these amazing activities you have to fight traffic, which is sometimes unbearable! I would love to see our public transportation continue to improve and come up to the level of connectivity and ease that you have in other large metropolises around the world. I remember going to Rio after the Olympics and seeing how much they had transformed their public transport offerings and thinking, “wow, if only we had this in L.A.!” Pretty much everywhere I’ve traveled has it better than us – Seoul, London, Sao Paulo. We need to step it up!
