Sarah, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started off as a client first when I fell in love with lash extensions. There were times I didn’t have a job and I would go in and get fills from Oxnard to West Hollywood doing hour or more commutes. I had a feeling they were going to be all the rage so I always wanted to learn how to do them but never had the money to start up. I was working two jobs at the time but never had enough money saved up to take the leap and was nervous what if I invest all this money and I am no good. It was when I visited my family in South Korea and saw they were all on their way to success; one cousin was a lawyer, another in school to be a Doctor, and most of my relatives graduated from a UC or better while I was still in community college not knowing what I wanted to do. So seeing all my older cousins on their grind inspired me to finally take a class. I learned classic lash extensions and caught on pretty quickly, it felt natural to me. I would envision what the set would look like before I completed the full set. And from then on everything started falling into place. Now I am going on my third year, have my own two-room studio in Westlake village, CA, and perform classic and volume extensions, lash lifts, and microstroking eyebrows.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Out of all things I have tried in my life, this has been the smoothest. Of course, there are bumps along the way, but I believe everything happens for a reason, so I see it as a lesson and a reminder to appreciate when things are going great. The thing is to always push through and believe you will be alright.

My business is called Studio Sohn, formerly Lashing Beauty. Services included are classic and volume lash extensions, lash lifts, and microstroking eyebrows. I am known for making the eyes noticeably beautiful, by styling them as realistic as possible no matter how glam we go. Additionally, I am known for maintaining the health of one’s eyelashes. I also specialize in Asian eyes. What I am proud of is my client’s understanding and knowledge about lash extensions, it’s important to know what you’re paying for and how to take care of them.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
In the future I plan on having several locations and get more into training other lash artists. A lot of lash artists out there have been trained improperly causing harm to people’s lashes, creating a myth that lash extensions are damaging. So I would like to properly teach people while encourage more ladies to become boss babes. I had a big change in the past several months changing my business name from Lashing Beauty to Studio Sohn, (which is a lot more personable because it is my last name) which shifted some more attention to training.
