Meet Sarah Hyland-Rosenstein

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Hyland-Rosenstein.

Sarah, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My comedy career started when I was living in Chicago while attending The Art Institute. I worked at a juice bar next to Zanies Comedy Club… Major comedians like, Doug Stanhope who would like regular the juice bar I worked at, and it inspired me to try out comedy.

I started my career at Second City and quickly moved to LA after dropping out of art school to pursue comedy. Upon arriving in Los Angeles, I scored a series regular role on MTV’s Punk’d and Fox MADTv.

I’ve been performing stand-up regularly at the World Famous Comedy Store in West Hollywood. I’ve opened for Margaret Cho and The Kims of Comedy with Bobby Lee. I perform at clubs all over LA and the country.

Has it been a smooth road?
I’m a female in the comedy world. That alone is a bumpy road. I’ve had personal struggles in my life… coming from Kentucky as a gay woman. I knew no one in LA.

When I first moved to LA, I lived in my car that I parked regularly to sleep in Studio City with my dog Willis. I’ve had some amazing highs and extreme lows in this career…

Through determination and hard work I always get re-inspired and push through to the next chapter.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I do stand up comedy. Character Work. Improv. Acting. Modeling. I enjoy assisting my Wife on her photo shoots.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Los Angeles is the best city for Comics! We have so many comedy clubs, and we are surrounded by other comics that support each other. NEVER GIVE UP. Always surround yourself with like-minded people. Always say YES to gigs and don’t burn bridges. Be Kind. Be yourself. Laugh at yourself. Have a fucken blast.
