Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Gibbons. Sarah shared her story with us below:

Sarah Gibbons

Sarah’s professional legacy is defined by helping ambitious women and men experience their full expression and trailblaze their own unique path of purpose and fulfillment. She’s a master at helping driven people remember who they are, so they can operate in their zone of genius while self-leading from a place of connection and calm. As a mother to three boys, Sarah’s personal legacy includes a sense of compassion, self-acceptance, and appreciation of their unique gifts, as well as the ability to be present over the pressure to be perfect.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t always been cupcakes and unicorns, as being an entrepreneur immediately thrust me into getting comfortable being uncomfortable with the unknown. When I first started my business, I thought I only wanted to coach working Mothers because I thought I had to pick a niche. What I realized after major trial and error was that it wasn’t demographics that lit me up; it was a person’s set of values.

Like all new entrepreneurs, I found my inner world crashing as I got caught up with comparing myself to other coaches who’d been in the biz a lot longer than me. I was quick to hire my own coach so that I could deepen my self-trust and ultimately my ability to self-lead.  While also learning to stay on my yoga mat!!

The coaching world is like the wild west with very little regulation and I quickly discovered that the most important thing I could do to help me navigate all the challenges that I would face was to consistently invest in myself – not only so I could walk my talk, but I firmly believe that you can’t take someone to places you’ve never been.

We’ve been impressed with SG&Co, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’ve been referred to as ‘The LA Creative Whisper.’ My team and I focus on coaching executives & entrepreneurs in the Arts, Entertainment, Tech & Foundation/Non-Profit spaces to help them thrive at the intersection of creativity + impact. My people are ruthlessly committed to experiencing their fullest potential but care even more about the experience along the way. They crave deep connection, fun, creative expression, and leaving the world a better place than when they arrived. They operate with a generous spirit, and they’re incredibly driven and value excellence (but again, not at the cost of their connection to themselves). My clients hire me to help them remember who they are, deepen their ability to self-lead while taking inspired action to not just achieve their goals, but love the experience along the way.

I believe that revolutionary growth happens inside of revolutionary relationships so I coach people in three different ways:

1. Organizations hire me to coach their Execs in a team environment + one-on-one.

2. I run one group coaching program each year called, ‘The Board’ which is made up of driven men and women who’ve had a track record of success and are committed to refining their leadership skills so their inner experience reflects their outer experience. This will be my 5th year running The Board, and people come back year after year because there’s no other place where people experience others willing to say the thing that no one else will say to them in service to their growth in all areas of their life. One of the highlights is the retreat that’s included. This past year we had it in Costa Rica.

3. I support a limited number of clients one-on-one, and for the first time, they finally feel supported, rather than always being the one to support everyone else.

What I’m most proud of is I walk my talk. I’ve created a life that reflects my desires – I’m incredibly engaged and present w/ my immediate family, I’ve built a very successful business, and I’m experiencing life on my terms – most recently my husband and I were craving an adventure for our children and one that would foster a greater sense of resilience and connection to the world at large, and so we moved our boys to Costa Rica for 6 months and put them in an International School. We both ran our businesses from there and returned with a whole new perspective on what really matters to us. It was an incredible experience!

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I grew up in Seattle and loved being outdoors. I spent most of my Summers as a kid/ teen on Orcas Island and couldn’t get enough of adventure life with friends and road trips with my family.

I had a heart for giving back and valued volunteering, which still today is a value of mine.

I was competitive, but more with myself than others. I played soccer and ran track competitively – the relays were my absolute favorite because I loved the collaboration and connection that was fostered.

I really valued community and diversity, which is why I switched High Schools my Jr. year so I could attend a school that I felt a greater sense of belonging. It was a major game changer for me because I realized I valued quality over quantity, which is true to this day.

I have always had an interest in the creative world, albeit photography, piano, dance, and art, which is why it’s no surprise that I coach some of the most extraordinary creatives in the world.
