Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Beth Luciano.
Hi Sarah Beth, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started as an actor and stand-up comedian in New York and moved out to Los Angeles in 2019. I performed improv and stand-up every night all over the city. During the pandemic, I began making comedy videos for TikTok and Instagram since I didn’t have a stage to perform on anymore. That’s what really grew my following.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
NoOoOo, not at all. Before the pandemic, I was constantly auditioning and going through the motions of having an acting career, which is never easy. It’s a ROUGH business and can make you feel powerless. There were many meltdowns and constant questioning of if I was even making any progress.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a comedian and I love every minute of it. My job consists of laughing all the time and making others laugh! What could be better than that? I am most proud of my perseverance. As hard as this industry gets at times, I never feel like quitting. It’s just not going to happen. I believe I have a unique voice in the comedic world and I’m not willing to let that go.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Just DO IT. Leave your fears about what people are going to think about you at the door. Once you stop caring about the opinion of others, you are truly free. Lean into your weirdness and don’t ever be embarrassed. Your individuality is what sets you apart. Push yourself and get far, far away from your comfort zone. Comfort is not welcome here.
