Meet Sara Podwol of Sara the Pet Nanny

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sara Podwol.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Sara. So, let’s start at the beginning, and we can move on from there.
I have always loved animals. I have worked as a dog walker and pet sitter in Chicago. I also worked at a veterinary hospital and dog groomers. Once in LA, I worked at a doggy daycare and for other dog walking companies. I hated the stress and guilt of working under someone. I started my own company so I could be more assertive with my decisions. Wanted to be able to be more flexible for my acting and modeling career.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Luckily, all my clients are super understanding about me needing to go to auditions or working more lucrative trade shows and what not. But even still its always a challenge making the walks and auditions mix.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Sara the Pet Nanny story. Tell us more about the business.
I do dog walking and pet sitting. That also includes cat visits. It’s just me and my sister. So people always know what they are going to get. No strangers walking their dog… I do not board animals at my house. I go to the dog or cats house.

That way the pet is the most comfortable it can be while its parents are gone. I treat the pet like it’s my own. So I spoil them and give them tons of love. That makes me stand out for sure. I also send adorable photos that the owners really get a kick out of!

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
The traffic G-ds play a role that’s for sure. However, I just try and leave extra time. But most of my clients are super flexible. I make sure they give me a couple hour window, that way I can get to the baby regardless!
