Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
It makes sense that I’d find myself here with a Feng Shui consulting business. As a kid, I’d rearrange my furniture to shift the energy of the room. In a world of chaos, my room was the one place where I felt empowered, in control, and confident. I became so “lucky” that my friends started calling me Sarandipity as a play on words. And I knew deep down that these lucky events weren’t accidents; but intentional by design. It was obvious to me the correlation of the placement of furniture and the luck I was finding, and I knew that someday I would find a way to teach my secrets to others.
Like so many others in Los Angeles, my journey began with my passion for movies.
When I was studying film at the University of Michigan, I fell in love with The Art of Mise-En-Scene A.K.A. The placement of objects on the screen. Why? Because this is movie magic. Intentionally using colors, shapes, symbols, arrangement, movement, lighting, or sound, a director can affect an audience’s subconscious. They can make a character can seem oppressed and struggling or powerful and serene, depending on how we place the elements on the screen.
Feng Shui is very similar and pre-dates filmmaking by about 3,000 years. Feng Shui is defined as The Art of Placement. By intentionally placing certain colors, shapes, symbols, arrangements, lighting, and sounds in your living and work spaces, you can create harmony, balance and attract the things in your life that you want such as money, love, luck, balance, and harmony.
My own story is amazing. As I got more serious about feng shui and training with my master’s, my film career improved in wonderful ways: First a steady TV gig with a short commute, and home by 4:30 every day. Then another steady gig with 3-day weekends, so I got the rest I needed. Then I was getting unexpected retro-paychecks in the mail when I wasn’t even working. And then I was paid full rate to just sit on standby and hang out with my dog while everyone else worked themselves to the bone. The results have been so amazing that I want to share this gift with others, especially men or women who are feeling stuck or who are going through life changes and need a big energy shift.
Now I’m an official feng shui consultant, and with my trained eye and intuition, I can look at someone’s floor plan drawing and tell them things about their life that no one else would know! Not that dissimilar from a reading with a psychic of a medium… crazy right? Sometimes you’ll even catch me with clients who are drawing their floor plans on bar napkins! It’s so much fun for all involved. My favorites are when they’re among friends and get a confirmation of laughter or gasps from their reactions.
I offer full feng shui consultations in person and also virtually for all my clients who live abroad. Helping others find this empowerment and confidence; teaching them how to turn their homes into powerful tools for transformation; and helping them live with more luck and harmony fills my cup.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the biggest obstacles I have with my feng shui business is sharing the message to those who don’t understand what feng shui is. Feng shui is usually someone’s last resort when nothing else works, and once they discover feng shui, it becomes their go-to solution for everything. Much like when yoga first came to the United States in the 1960s. Now everyone knows what yoga is, and it’s a big part of today’s personal care, and I look forward to feng shui emerging in a similar way.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
First my clients tell me their 3 wishes: For example, maybe You want a big reset after your divorce, You want to bring in new clients to your business, or You want to get a promotion. I do a “floor plan reading” and explain to my clients how each area of their home affects a certain part of their life. By looking at the floor plan, furniture layouts, decorations and more I explain what’s going on in the space energetically, and where the blockages and imbalances are. Then I give my clients expert feng shui tips that were passed down from a lineage of teachers (Note: these tips are not found on the internet or in books!) and then my clients can attract more love, abundance, promotions etc. into their lives through the transformational power of their home.
